[identity profile] laminy.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
The nosy people got to a poor girl on the bus today and got first name, middle name and spelling out of her for her baby. So, baby boy, just a few months old:

Xavier Eric

WDYT?

Xavier is not my style, but not unheard of. I prefer the French pronunciation, though. Hard to do phonetics over the internets but sort of like ZAH-vee-ay is how I was taught to say it.

Nice French name, but might be tricky in this part of the world :)

Really? Where are you, may I ask? The name doesn't come off as overtly French to me.

In the U.S. ;)
Well, I grew up in Russia, and that's how this name looks for me: French.

I don't like Xavier at ALL. AT ALL. AT ALL AT ALL AT ALL.

I like Eric, but I like Erich better.

The Xavier I know pronounce it "Ex-ay-vee-er", so when I read that, I pronounce it that way, and something about the "Ex/eks" sound in "Xavier" and the "ic" sound in Eric is too repetitive for me.

I like Xavier, but hubby hates it so I wasn't able to use it:(

I love Eric although I prefer the Erik spelling. If my micro-viking is a boy he will be named Erik.

refreshingly nice and decent. Normal names, not super popular, but certainly recognizeable, and no retarded spellings to make it "eweniqq" lol.

I like both names too, thumbs up from me all around.

I love Xavier, probably because it was my late-grandfather's middle name. I like Eric, too, but I personally would probably switch the order and do Eric Xavier. But that's just me :)

I like Xavier but my husband automatically thinks of the X-men when it come up so it's off the list.

Wow. I know an Eric Xavier.

Well, the true story is that he's Chinese-American and doesn't have a middle name. So when he was in high school, he just started writing Xavier on everything that asked for a middle name. Now everything that's sent to him, government documents included, list Xavier as his middle name. /ramble

It doesn't flow that well, IMO. Not a bad name though.
