The Daily Show correspondent Rob Corddry and his wife Sandra have welcomed their first child, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.

The couple's daughter, Sloane Sullivan Corddry, was born on Monday at 8:05 a.m. in New York City. She weighed in 7 lbs. 2oz.


what do you think of her name? i've always kind of liked sloane since i saw "ferris bueller's day off" ages ago.

Yeah Ferris Bueller is the only time I've ever heard of the name Sloane. It's 'all right'.. Sloane Sullivan definitely has a 'news reporter'/celeb sound to it. Maybe that's what they were going for. Ehh.. I kind of like it I guess.

me too. i knew a girl named sloane once and she was super nice but i hated her name. it has such a negative sound to me. it's not pretty to me, it sounds like a bad word or a name you would call someone that was stupid... i don't know WHY i feel that way when i hear the name, but those are the images it brings up for me.

I'm good friends with 2 brothers who's last name is "Sloan" ... I guess it'd work as a BOYS name... not a girls name.

I love the name Sloane for a girl. The mn is not my style at all. I would pair Sloane with a much more feminine name like Alexandria and Isabella.

I don't like it. When I first looked at it, I didn't see the "daughter" part and thought the baby was a boy. Even for a boy, I don't like it. It rhymes with too many unpleasant words, like "groan" and "moan".

I like the name even though I'd never give it to my own daughter. One of my dad's childhood neighbors named her daughter Sloane and there was also a girl in one of my classes with the name.

Sloane Sullivan sounds like a wealthy Batman villain to me.

I actually dislike Sloane for girls OR boys because of the term "Sloane" - a young, snotty person of the upper-class. I think that's probably just a British term, though, judging from the number of Americans I know who think Sloane is just fine.

hmm, maybe that's why i don't like the name. i grrew up in England and i have very negative thoughts about the name. perhaps because i've heard the word before in a negative context. i left england when i was 10, so i wasn't old enough to fully get the differences between english & american: i am still confused by certain spellings and phrasings.

in a book for high school English, they used the term "the bottom of the garden" and there was a footnote saying it meant the far end of the yard. i said to my friend that they must think we're stupid to put in such an obvious footnote, and she said she hadn't known what the book was saying without the note. recently, my brother asked my dad "when did they stop spelling tire/tyre with a 'Y'?" haha.

I didn't know about tyre with a Y until I actually visited England. I don't think it's as widely known as the extra U's in everything. :) Those silly brits.. always misspelling and mispronouncing everything. ;) Oh and it got to be very confusing for me, my English friend kept yelling my name while we were out on the highways.. *#@)@& Lorry this and *#@*@ Lorry that.. hehe

hrm gotta run and do a spell check.. I'm a dumb american who can't spell either. ;)

i have to admit i've always had this weird affinity for names that call to mind old money and snobbery. Sloane, Greer, Hampton... i can't imagine using them, but they have always fascinated me. that life (WASP-y New England) is about as far from what i live as i can imagine.

I missed the 'daughter' part and thought it was a boy. It'd prefer it on a boy, I think. Not that I really like it period. It reminds me of 'slow' and 'loan', neither of which are really the greatest associations...

I know a beautiful baby girl named Sloane. Her sister's name is Harper. I prefer the name Sloane over Harper.


They call the baby, Sloaney Baloney and nickname her BoBo...I don't like that.
