birth announcement in today paper:

grayson jane

fathers name was listed as G. Scott, so can we assume his first name is grayson or gray or something?

Grayson James was my #1 pick for a while - so when i started to read the name i read Grayson James 3 times before I finally realized it said Jane

it just feels so "boy" to me, but maybe i'm bias because of how often i've labeled it "boy"...

i like emerson too, but as a boy... i could see it on a girl, though!

yea... -son endings just kinda mean "boy" to me, i think... if you want to get literal about it, Grayson would kinda mean "son of Gray", right?

My cousin recently had a girl named Graceyn. Ugh. Grayson on a boy isn't bad though.

Well, at least people might hear the name wrong and think it's Grace - which is a pretty, very female name...

the first time I ever saw that name was on a girl, and I guess it fit her and her family. so it doesn't really bother me. I would prefer grey on a girl. and I like the spelling greyson better.

Yea, it's bad- Grayson is very boyish to me.
I don't really care for it in general, though.

I am careful with posts of boy names on girls because I tend to like some boy names on girls... like I've explained my lust for naming a girl Damien here a bunch of times. It just seems feminine to me spelled like that BUT Grayson seems so masculine... and well it's not a pretty name either way.

I know a gorgeous girl called Grayson who is a close family friend, so the name seems ok for both boys and girls to me because I have known her for 12 years. When I first heard her name it was a bit of a shock, but when her mother explained why it didn't seem as crazy.

This was around the time Grace was an uber-popular name. Mother loved Grace, but there was already a Grace in the family but they still wanted something with the "Grace" sound in it. Hence, Grayson. it does suit her. For reference, nearly everyone calls her Gracie.

As for the OP, if Grayson is after her dad or a tradition in their family I think that's cute.
