variants on george
Feb. 9th, 2010 08:59 amHello all! It's my first post here... I'm not looking to have kids anytime soon, but I do love names.
I'm considering naming a potential future little girl after my brother George, who I love dearly but is disabled and can't have children. I could be more direct about it and name a son George, but I feel it would be a bit confusing.
What is your favorite feminine variant of George? I love Georgia, but it reminds me of the state/country. Off the top of my head I can think of Georgina, Georgette and Georgiana.

Date: 2010-02-09 04:24 pm (UTC)I think I'd like to avoid the nickname Georgie because we call my brother that fairly often and he might get confused when he hears somebody else called that and not understand that we don't mean him. Then again, he might be very pleased to have somebody share his exact name... hm, I'll have to think about it.

Date: 2010-02-09 03:48 pm (UTC)George is a family name for me (my grandfather, dad and brother all have it as their middle name although my grandfather actually went by it) and while I don't love it on a boy, I love Georgia and would consider using it to keep up the tradition.

Date: 2010-02-10 05:05 am (UTC)Georgina- I never seem to remember this varient, but I hate it when I do.
Georgian(n)a- I like it.
Georgette- I've never seen/heard this before; I think it's ugly.
Georg(e)anne- I really don't like it... Georgia is better than this.
I think the nickname Georgie is really cute.
