To the OP: I'm not a big fan of names that start with Q, for whatever reason. I sort of like Quinn, but that's about it. So I'm not a huge fan of Quentin, but it might be because of my weird dislike of Qs :p
That name is a favorite of mine. I think it would go best with names that aren't unheard of, but aren't incredibly common, so maybe nothing in the top 100 or so.
I think of the son on "Grace Under Fire", the old sitcom from the late 80s early 90s. They were southern like myself, so I see a southern boy/gentleman with that name.
I like it although it doesn't really fit with my naming style. I think it's a pretty classic name and would go with a wide variety of middles, everything from Alexander to Oliver to Michael.
My mom works with Quentin Mackay (a designer), so that's who I think of! I like how it sounds, and he's a handsome guy, so I don't mind the association.
My suggestions for middle names: Quentin Russell Quentin Riley Quentin Elliot Quentin Skyler Quentin Taylor
A cousin of mine is named Quentin. She is 28 years old. I'll always think of her, even before the famous Quentin! (BTW, from what I hear from my parents, she lucked out. Apparently the name her parents didn't choose for her was a lot worse!)

Quentin Xavier is a pretty neat combo and uses two unusual letters.
