(no subject)

So I think I found my new favorite community.

I'm getting married in less than two weeks, but not planning on having kids for 3+ years, so we have a lot of time to think, but here are some of the names we like right now.

Girls:
Brynn Faith
Margaret Hazel (To be called Maggie) (First name after his aunt that set us up and Hazel after a very close family friend)
Savannah

Boys:
Luke
Jonathan Scott (To be called Scott, since my fiance's name is Jonathan)

There are so many names that I've liked that he's turned down, but that's ok.

Oh, and my sister-in-law is pregnant and she and I were convinced she was having a girl (name picked was Kate) but they told her at her latest ultrasound that its actually a boy. She really liked Tristan but everyone was telling her that it was too girly a name for a boy. I liked it :(

Anyway, I'm sure I'll be lurking around here for quite awhile.

I love your girls' names! Your boys' names are good too.

Margaret is on my top 3 list.

A lot will change in 3+ years; you both may change your tastes!

I like Tristan for a girl.

I have never ever heard of Tristan for a girl.

[identity profile] sayga.livejournal.com 2006-07-03 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
me neither. i've heard Trista for a girl, but always Tristan for a boy. it is getting quite popular, though, in case popular names are something the OP is trying to avoid.

Tristan is definitely not too girly. Tristan was one of the Knights of the Round Table!

I LOVE it for a boy! Tristan and Isolde...very masculine there.

I'm a Trista (girl)... and I adore Tristan for a boy... the nn "Tris" may seem girlie to me because it's what I've been called my whole life, but the female version (my name) was derived from the masculine "Tristram"... later "Tristan"... it's an awesome name... even though it's sadly getting really trendy!

I adore "Brynn" & "Faith", but I don't think they sound nice together at all... 2 1-syllabel names rarely do.

i love Savannah though i think i like it better Savanna! i kinda like Jonathan Luke. all the boys names go well together anyway i think.

I love the name Margaret and Maggie is just great as a nickname :)

Luke is my number one boys name also!

Welcome to the Community!

Tristan is traditionally a boy's name, isn't it?

It only seems girly to me because I've known two girl Tristans and only one boy Tristan (and he was 3 when I knew him).

I love Luke and Savannah

(mostly) great names!

ive always been on the fence about the name tristan, i dont love it but i dont hate it either really. i knew a kid named tristan in school, thought it was wierd then but have since grown to appreciate it. its becoming really trendy though i think.

i love the name maggie, and wish i could use it someday, but its my cats name (i didnt name her)! i also really like that it has meaning for you guys, thats really special.

i dont really like brynn all that much, but most names like that have been ruined for me thanks to one breanna in my life recently. love savannah and luke!!

Margaret Hazel is really pretty, love that.

I like Luke a lot better than Jonathan, but I think Luke is even better as a nn for Lucas :)

I really don't see how Tristan is girly. I've heard people say that before, but to me it's ridiculous. I think everyone should watch Legends of the Fall a few times, and then try and say it's girly!!! (hehe) ;)

I've seen and heard Tristan used on girls recently, and its popularity surged for boys only a few years before that. The same thing happens, I think, to most trendy names. I'm seeing Aidan on girls, too.

Hazel is amazing. I love it so much.

I love Margaret Hazel. It's so classic, feminine and the familial connections make it even more special. In my opinion it will age better than Brynn Faith. I've always thought Savannah was sweet. Do you remember that cheesy movie, "Savannah Smiles" or something like that?

Aw, congrats! :)

Brynn Faith - Brynn is really pretty.
Margaret Hazel (To be called Maggie) (First name after his aunt that set us up and Hazel after a very close family friend) -I like Maggie Hazel
Savannah - cute

Luke - love it
Jonathan Scott (To be called Scott, since my fiance's name is Jonathan) - I like it

I also like Tristan for a boy
:)

i don't really care for the combination jonathan scott. i like both of those names separately, but not really together.

I like Brynn and Luke. :)
