Girl names, with the last name Ward:

Indie
Darby [I know I've seen this as a boy's name, but it sounds feminine to me, so...?]
Stella [Is this the shortened form of another name??]
Phoebe
Carson [Possibly as a middle name for Phoebe or Indie?]
Paisley [maybe as a middle name?]

And I think I've asked about this one before, but my partner and I are IN LOVE with the name Canyon Asher Dean for a boy. I know this is a little outside the box, and I'm usually not one for replacing C's with K's, but we were wondering if spelling it Kanyon would make it seem more like a name than just a word, ya know? Or is it just obnoxiously trendy? WDYT??

I think an obvious word name is better than an obvious attempt to obscure an obvious word name. Canyon is a nice sounding word, and we already name kids after animals and animal parts and bodies of water and jobs.

I agree, the spelling of Canyon with a C.

As for your girls' names, I like almost all! Especially Phoebe. One of my favorite names. I actually prefer India to Indie.
Paisley is the only one that seems a little odd. But maybe as a middle name it would be cute.

Carson sounds really masculine to me.

I'd keep it with a C. I cringe with obvious words/names are spelled wrong. The only exception is Kaitlyn.

I like Stella and Phoebe, although Stella brings you back to the "award" sound I see you're trying to avoid. Indie is difficult to picture on a professional adult, as is Paisley. Paisley just isn't a word that sounds pleasing to me so I especially don't like it as a name on that count too. Carson is a male name and I don't like male names on females. Darby was the name of one of my girl scout leaders growing up so I think of it as being feminine, just not one I care for particularly.

Canyon Asher Dean sounds fine, but I don't know about the flow when you add the last name. Still, it's alright. Canyon isn't my thing, but as pointed out, there are plenty of other nature word names out there so, why not? I do tend to prefer word names spelt correctly though.

I think spelling it with a K makes it look wrong, if that makes sense. Canyon as a name is actually kind of cool if you ask me, but I have to say the two middle names plus the last name Ward is a bit of a mouthful. However, it's not like he'll go around introduce himself as Canyon Asher Dean Ward all the time, so I think it could work :)

As for girl names, I love Phoebe. Carson is more of a boys name to me. Stella is also nice, and for some odd reason I actually like Paisley :) Indie makes me think of this race they always have in my city around mid-november and it also strikes me more as a nickname. Darby is cute, I agree it's more feminine than masculine.

Canyon isn't that bad but Kanyon would look really trendy.

I like Phoebe and Darby with Ward.
Paisley sounds too much like "nasally" to me and I really dislike it.

Of the girls' names, I kind of like Phoebe.
I really don't like Canyon, but if you're going to use it, definitely use the "C."

canyon with a C, please! i also feel like "dean" can/should be taken out of the name (unless it has family significance for you), it just seems like too much. i also really love the name indie.

I think Canyon Dean Asher Ward sounds nice as well. It does have the double N sounds right next to one another, but saying it aloud...I think it sounds rather swell.

canyon dean ward doesn't sound bad at all, imo! i do understand why you'd rather not keep it just there, but in this case the N sound isn't really as noticeable to me. the idea of it being unused but still significant is a good plan, though.

Personally, I'm not a fan of Canyon. I'm generally not fond of place/city names though. I love Asher and Dean is nice. If you go with Canyon, PLEASE spell it Canyon. Kanyon really looks "trendy."

I like Stella and Pheobe. Stella can be a nickname for Estelle or Estella.

I much prefer the spelling Canyon. I love the combo tho :)

I also like Stella and Phoebe. The other names aren't really my style

Please, please spell it with a C. Replacing the C with a K really does make it look obnoxious.
There are plenty of place/object names. Aspen, London, Dakota, Stone, etc. Canyon sort of fits in that group.
While it is not my style, Canyon Asher Dean sounds good. If you like it, go for it and everyone else will just have to get over it :)

Out of all these, I only like Stella, but I don't think it goes very well with Ward.

Please don't name a child Paisley :(

Kanyon comes off as obnoxiously trendy.

Indie Carson? As in the Indy 500?

I love Stella, like Phoebe, and Darby could work. I love Asher and Dean is okay but not so much with Canyon. I know there is an lj user (and I believe she is part of this community?) who's daughter's name is Darby and she's adorable!

The only person I've ever met IRL with the name Darby was the girl I babysat for in high school. It's a cute name, but I'm not sure how well it ages. She's 16 now, so it still seems like a kid name.

Of your choices, I like Stella Ward best.
