7 weeks pregnant and the husband won't leave me alone about baby names. Heh. Though he wants a girl, so hasn't even looked at boy names.

Originally we had picked out Sophia Rose, but Sophia is way too popular for my liking. I was always the only Evelyn. I would have hated being Evelyn T. or what not.

Rose is his grandmother's middle name. I'm trying to decide if I like using my grandma's name. So, it'd be Sylvia Rose.

oooohhhh I like Sylvia Rose!
For one, Sylvia definitely needs an increase in popularity, and secondly, the name translates into the phrase "wild rose", "rose from the wild", so it's really neat :)

not being common is like my number two rule. I know so many danis. and while it's sort of cool that I have a group of friends and we all go out and have the same name, it can be confusing sometimes. I was lucky enough to always be the only dani or danielle in my classes though.

Sibylla is my favorite S---a name, but that's nice, too.

si-BIL-a
It's so pretty. I love it. Bonus points for a strong historical female, despite her apparent powerlessness in popular portrayal. My husband is not so thrilled with the name, unfortunately.

A lady at my mom's church had a girl named Sylvia- at the time I thought it odd, but it really grew with her (she's maybe 7 now) and I think it's quite pretty.

I love Sylvia Rose! And Sylvia isn't popular, so there'd probably be no risk of her being Sylvia T (or whatever your last initial is). Sylvia sounds similar to Sophia, too.

Normally i'm not a "Rose" fan, but it goes so well with Sylvia and bonus for honoring his grandmother in the process! :D i think you picked out a good name :)

Sophia does sound awfully tired to me. I'd absolutely go for Sylvia instead!
