saying I'm obsessed with david bowie is understatement of the year.  so in my eyes having a son named bowie would be the shiznit.  my ex was almost named bowie (or mick, for what it's worth) and he kind of wanted to name a son of his that too, so it was kind of like fate.  or is that too cruel/only middle name material?  what say you?

eta:  for my hypothetical bowie, is adria (ade)and bowie and okay sib set?  potential middle names?  boy styles I like run along the lines of greyson, sage, bristol, paris, ellis, berlin, rory, elias, and generally all classic names.

i would use it for middle name material, personally, or maybe like a full name that would allow for the nickname Bowie... like maybe Robert, William or Beau (because Bo is a nickname for all of them)

Bowie's cute, though :)

btw - off topic but not really.. does anybody know why Bo is a nickname for William? that's one that kinda freaks me out... like Peggy being a nickname for Margaret.

william > will > bill > bo
...that's all i can think of.

margaret > maggie > peggy
..again, totally at a loss.

My only qualm is with the fact that it's nickname-sounding, like others said.
Otherwise I'd be totally for it, in concept.
I second the suggestion of a first name that can have Bowie as a nickname.
Maybe something that ends in -ow, like Marlow?

Are there any Bowie songs with names in them? Any reason David wouldn't do? Maybe Robert? (Major) Tom? I think Bowie sounds both like a nickname and... not much of a name, so I'm not enthusiastic about it. And the fact that it reminds you of an ex would be a red flag for me if I were your partner!

It's not my style, but it's cute. And I think it works with Adria.

I like Bristol, too. Too bad it had to get ruined.

Boy eh? I'd never heard it before (except as a place), so I just went with it.

As a middle name I think it's okay. But I think it's a huge no for a first name. Personally. However, it could be worse. But I still think middle name is a better bet.

I would not even blink if I saw a boy named Bowie on a class roster. THere are so much worse names than that, and it's not even that unusual of a name!! I think you're on safe ground, and go for it!

Bowie is so cute. Love it.

My friend named her son Kravitz because she loves Lenny Kravitz. Coincidentally my last name is Kravitz, I like to think she named her kid after me.
