Girls:
Dove-it sounds pretty but just doesn't seem like a name.
Jack(in honor of my grandmother)-it's a boys name, it's a good nick name from Jacqueline or someother spelling of the name.
Juniper(June)- not really feeling it
Lola-love love love it.
Lolly-sounds cute but better as a nickname for Laura or Lola.
Pepper-nice nick name, like when I call my daughter potato and tomato.
Poppy-love love love it.
Posey-love love love it.
Rosalind-not really my style, but pretty.
Rose-bit bland, bit of a filler name.
Ruth-too butch for me.
Violet-very pretty.

Boys:
Bran-reminds me of "all bran" cereal.
Butch-too butch if you know what I mean.
Cooper- bit boring for me.
Dusty-Sounds like a nickname for Dustin.
Jasper-love it.
Percy-Percival is better.
Remington(Remy)-reminds me of razors.
Ross-meh.
Rusty-better as a nickname for Russel

I like Dove, Juniper, Pepper, and Poppy. I wouldn't use them on a person but I like them.

[identity profile] grasshulaskirt.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
I like the Spanish word for Dove, Paloma.

Love Lola, I'm biased because I babysat a fabulous Lola this year and her brother is Cruz.

[identity profile] arbus.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
my husbands name is jack and its crossed my mind once or twice that if (god forbid) something tragic ever happened, i would use it as a girls middle name, but i dont think i would ever use it as a first name on a girl. i dont know.

aside from that...

i LOVE...
(and starred the ones on our own list)

juniper (june)*
lola
pepper (huge guilty pleasure of mine)
poppy*
posey
rose (not on our list anymore because sister-in-law used it but still love it)
ruth
violet*
jasper* (in our top three)

Pepper is dope, reminds me of Pepper Anne, she's too cool for 7th grade.

[identity profile] rosemere-rat.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
My dogs name is Pepper Anne...

Pepper Anne, Pepper Anne, is she cool or is she lame, Pepper Anne shes like one and a million!

Girls:
Dove- I actually really like this. I never would have thought of it.
Jack(in honor of my grandmother)- I like this as a boys name for a girl. Some I don't.
Juniper(June)- I think it's cute.
Lola- Reminds me of a dog name.
Lolly- Indifferent.
Pepper- Not for a person.
Poppy- Love.
Posey- I like it...I think.
Rosalind- Partial to this one as my cousin's name is Rosalinda.
Rose- Love it. It's my middle name. :)
Ruth- Don't like Ruth, but I like Ruthia because that's my grandmother.
Violet- Like it, but too popular for me.

Boys:
Bran- No.
Butch- No.
Cooper- No.
Dusty- No.
Jasper- Too Twilight. It sucks that Twilight ruined some names for me.
Percy- Diggin it.
Remington(Remy)- For awhile this was on my top list for a girl with Remy as a nickname. But then I noticed how many appliances were Remington.
Ross- Like it.
Rusty- F NO.

[identity profile] starskye.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Ruthia- I have never heard that but yeah, that's a nice change from Ruth!

[identity profile] unaccepatable.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
ngl, i really dislike all of those

[identity profile] lind-saay.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
Jack for a boy is awesome, but I don't like it on girls, except as a nickname for Jacqueline, which I really like. But I'd give Jacqueline as the given name and just CALL her Jack so she has other options.

I also like: Rose, Ruth, Violet, Jasper, Ross. Rusty would be okay as a nickname for Russell, but not on its own. Same thing with Dusty -- nn for Dustin, yes; on its own, no.

Dove, Lolly, Pepper, Posey, Poppy, Bran, and Butch are all awful -- especially Dove, Bran, and Butch. Especially Butch. I can just see that going horribly wrong...

[identity profile] lind-saay.livejournal.com 2010-01-11 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Butch is slang for a masculine gay person. Now, I *am* butch, so I am not saying there's anything wrong with being butch, but your child likely will not like being called that -- whether he is gay, straight, bisexual, masculine, or feminine -- when he's 13 years old.

[identity profile] skudge.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
For the girls, love Jack, Juniper, and Violet. Not a big fan of Dove, Lola, Lolly, Pepper, or Posey. The rest I like.

For the boys, none of them are really my style, but Bran, Cooper, Jasper, and Ross are quite nice.

[identity profile] frost.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 09:51 am (UTC)(link)
I don't like...any of those, except maybe Juniper (I wouldn't use it though) and Japser (it's growing on me).

I kind of like Jack, but only on boys. I don't like any of the girls names it could be used as a nickname for.

[identity profile] starskye.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Girls:
Dove- I really think this would make a nice middle name. I myself wouldn't use it for a first, but I'm really liking it as a middle name with certain first names.
Jack(in honor of my grandmother)- This would be a cute nn for Jacqueline or Jacklyn, but I'm not sure I like it on it's own for a girl. For a boy, yes. Jack is on my boy name list.
Juniper(June)- I like June, but not Juniper.
Lola- I love it!
Lolly- no. I can't imagine a grown woman called Lolly as her full name. If it were a nn, it's cute.
Pepper- My friend's dog is pepper, so I kinda see it as a dog's name, but that's just a personal thing.
Poppy- nms
Posey-nms
Rosalind- that's pretty
Rose- I like Rose. It would of course also make a cute nn for Rosalind
Ruth- ehhh. It's okay. I'd be more inclinded to use it as a middle name.
Violet- I like this

Boys:
Bran- no
Butch- no
Cooper- it's alright
Dusty- no, not my style
Jasper- I sort of like this
Percy- ehhhh
Remington(Remy)- cute!
Ross- I would see this more like a nn for something, but I like it
Rusty- nms at all.
I think we have different naming styles, but I have to say that even though the names you like aren't my faves, I like them WAY better than things like Aiden, Jayden, Cayden, Peyton, Camden...ya know?

[identity profile] lorienellen.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually don't really like any of them. :-\

Most sound more like names for pets, and the others I don't really like (like Ruth, Rosalind or Percy).

[identity profile] lipsty.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I like Juniper :)

I prefer Bram to Bran, as it's a name rather than a source of fibre!

[identity profile] thezing.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I love Bram too! I think it's a much better choice.

[identity profile] sarahness.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
To be honest, I hate every name except:
Juniper
Rosalind
Violet
Jasper
Ross

[identity profile] laminy.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I love Poppy.

[identity profile] wowthatisminty.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I like all of the girls' names but I think Jack would have to be a nickname for Jacqueline.

I like most of the boys' names except for Bran, which is a cereal, and Butch.

I have a soft spot for the name Dove since it's the name of my aunt's sister who once got tipsy at a party and told me I looked like Drew Barrymore, LOL.

[identity profile] thezing.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
A lot of your names seem more like nicknames to me. I worry about names seeming professional a lot, though, so maybe that's just me.

I like:
Juniper(June)
Rosalind
Rose
Ruth
Violet
Cooper
Jasper
Percy
Remington(Remy)
Ross

[identity profile] milmari.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I like:
Ruth
Violet
Jasper

I love Lola, but as a nickname for something. And Dove reminds me of the soap.

[identity profile] harinakshi.livejournal.com 2010-01-10 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Girls:
Dove - Soap
Jack(in honor of my grandmother) - As a nickname for Jacqueline
Juniper(June) - I would never use it but there is something about it I really like:)
Lola - Same:)
Lolly - Lollipop, Lollipop, oh la la Lollipop, maybe a nickname
Pepper - Achoo! Or that cartoon...is it still on?
Poppy - Might be cute on a little girl but I couldn't see an adult with the name
Posey - Some of these odd flower names aren't really my style but not horrible
Rosalind - The variations of this name are all pretty
Rose - better as a middle name
Ruth - Old person
Violet - It's my great aunt's name so I can't hate it:)

Boys:
Bran - Cereal
Butch - A dog...or a biker's nickname
Cooper - nms but not horrible
Dusty - A horse
Jasper - nms, makes me think of a ghost
Percy - A dog again, sorry
Remington(Remy) - Only if your a multi millionaire, but it's kinda cute
Ross - Friends?
Rusty = Dog again...

Girls:
Dove--a little 'out-there' for me to use myself, but I actually love it.
Jack(in honor of my grandmother)--not on a girl. Sorry. Grandmother's name or not, that is just wrong.
Juniper(June)--Love Juniper, don't like June.
Lola--leeetle bit of a stripper name, but pretty all the same.
Lolly--as in what, Lollipop? Sorry, I'd veto this one.
Pepper--not dreadful, but kind of 60s, and I prefer a name with more meaning behind it.
Poppy--I like flower names, and this one has a nice peppy energy to it, but it sounds too much like what you might call a grandfather for my comfort.
Posey--cute!
Rosalind--eh... not for me.
Rose--LOVELY.
Ruth--understated, quiet. Not that pretty but I like the simplicity of it.
Violet--one of my favorites!

Boys:
Bran--with brothers Oat and Rye? Sorry, I like the sound of it but I can't get past the grain. Also, it seems incomplete.
Butch-- oh my gosh no.
Cooper-- eh. Awfully 80s-yuppie.
Dusty-- see Pepper.
Jasper--YES. This is a good one.
Percy-- really? The ultimate cliche nerdboy name? No thanks.
Remington(Remy)-- great name for a soap opera character. Not sure how well it would work on a real person, but it might.
Ross-- too dated. I can't see this on anyone under 30.
Rusty-- it's better than Dusty, but not hugely better.

Favorites: Dove, Juniper, Rose, Violet, Jasper.
