we just recieved a resume and the name on it was Miguel Arcangel and yes... that does literally translate to: Michael Archangel... poor thing.

Not that I like, or would use, Miguel anyway, but with Arcangel and oh my god that's just so bad and over the top.

I think it's one of those things like Jesus that aren't as extreme in Spanish-speaking countries.

Interesting that it seems extreme even in context! It doesn't seem any weirder to me than Jesus or saint names but I am not religious.

I saw where you said you live in Venezuela, and I don't know many Venezuelans, but I do know a lot of Mexicans, and it's really common for them to name their kids like Jose Maria de Guadelupe (my co-worker's uncle is actually named that) and other very religious names.

Oh, okay... That makes more sense. I speak some Spanish, but not enough to know what is common as a name/what's not. I had a customer at my old job whose name was "Maria de los Angeles lastname-lastname" and I thought "de los Angeles" was a weird middle name but apparently not.
