Names from children's books?
Jan. 3rd, 2010 10:32 pmThere was a post a few days ago about the name Matilda, after the character from the book, and I'm wondering what you all think of names from children's books. Maybe it's just me and my literary nerdiness, but I think it would be awesome to be able to give my child a book that they're named after. I mean, what better way to encourage a love of reading?
The ones I would consider:
Matilda - from Matilda
James - from James and the Giant Peach
Harriet - from Harriet the Spy
Alexander - from Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
Max - from Where the Wild Things Are
Olivia - from Olivia
Arthur - from the Arthur series
Amelia - from Amelia Bedelia
Charlie - from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Madeline - from Madeline
Peter - from Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing
What about you? Which names would you use? Would you ever actually name your kids a name from a children's book? What about literary names in general?
