I stumbled upon the name Zoelie recently. It seemed stupid at first, but I'm also intrigued. How does one pronounce it? Are there any children in the universe with this name? WDYT?

I kind of find it appealing. Argh.

I think I've heard of Zoelia before, pronounced Zoe-EH-lee-ah.
Zoelie sounds pretty in my head, a little less off my tongue. But that could be just me lol

Babynamesworld.com (http://babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com/meaning_of_Zoelie.html) lists it as a legit Greek name. Now, that site is not always super reliable but it makes sense considering Zoe is legitimate as well (and Greek too).

I'm pronouncing it Zoe-lee. It looks really pretty, but it isn't really my style.

Zo(e)-lee i believe. The first half rhymes with Joe. Kinda cute, but one of the names that I'd prefer as a middle name [i wonder why all the names i find here that are semi-new/cool end up in my "might use as a middle name" category?]

My first inclination would be that it sounds like "soily"?

I kinda like it. It reminds me of one of my faves that I don't think I could get away with... Zénaïde

Zo-ee-lee? I don't know. For some reason, it makes me think of aliens or...space kids. >_>

I'd pronounce it "Zo-eh-lee" or maybe like "Zoe Lee."

I really like it, but I don't know if I'd use it... It's definitely pretty in my eyes, though. :)

Zehn-a-ede. Here's the thinkbabynames page on it, but it's very wrong on the pronunciation... at least if you use the trema. The accent aiguë should make a long a sound out of that e (like French ez, er, etc,) but it wouldn't be a very long long a and would be just about indistinguishable from a short e so just Zen would probably work. The trema indicates that the a and i should be pronounced separately (think noël). So short a and short i (which, in French is an English long e) and then pronounce the d because of the e behind it.

It's so lovely. I apologize for the book. Pronunciation is fun. As a historical note, Napoleon's brother named a daughter Zénaïde.
