[identity profile] kellyjoy.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
One of my Facebook friends is babysitting a little girl named Huntyr today.

WDYT? I kind of want to pronounce it "Hun-teer" as a result of the "y".

Wow, that's one of the worst names I've ever seen. Unnecessary and ugly looking Y, boy's name on a girl, and an ugly, trendy, tacky boy's name to start with. Poor girl.

Wow, this 'y' thing is getting even more absurd by the day. I had to engrave something for a Madisyn lately, at my work. Nuts.

Eww. You're absolutely right. It looks like it would rhyme with 'frontier.'

All vowels are the same now. The creative parents have made them all interchangeable. Jordan, Jorden, Jordin, Jordon, Jordun, and Jordyn are all the same name, after all. ;-)

That is absolutely horrific. :(

My opinion is, always use the most common spelling of a name, especially if it's an unusual name.

Creative spelling just takes a classy name and makes it into a stupid name. Example: Annika turned stupid is Annykah

I hate it when people think you can just use whatever letters they want to spell a name.

I met a girl named Mistyk, pronounced Mystique. Mistyk is Mystic. And that's an awful name anyway.

I love Hunter. I love Hunter on girls. Huntyr is unnecessary and will look bad on anybody.

Bimbo-ish and rather trashy... just the image you want to project as you grow up.
