It's the same here in Belgium and France with my name, Isabelle. At school, we were three in a class of 20 (more or less). And there were two Nathalies (the only other name that's even more common than mine).

My mother once said she should have spelled my name Ysabel to make it more original, and Véronik instead of Véronique for my sister. I agreed at the time (I was about 15) but now I think it's better to have the right spelling, although I do like Ysabel (it looks kind of elegant, unlike Véronik who makes the opposite impression to me). Still, I prefer to go by Cybèle because it's my author name (Cybèle Adam), I'm used to be called that on the Internet, and in "real life" it avoids confusion with my sister's best friend's sister.
The said friend is a Nathalie, which makes me think their parents really found the most unoriginal sibset ever (for French girls, I mean). But at least they're younger than me and the names were much less trendy at the time they were born, so they didn't have two other girls named like them in their class at school.
