I had a customer in the layaway department who gave her name as Neyia, pronounced Knee yuh. Strange, but not too bad, certainly not the worst name that I've seen. That is, until she came to pick up her layaway. When she handed me her license I discovered that her legal name was Korneyia. Yes, cornea. That poor girl. I would go by Neyia too.

But cornea is cor-nee-ah, not cor-nee-yah :S
Perhaps her name is a butchering of Cornelia, pronounced weirdly like it has a spanish "ll" (like paella) ?
I think it's especially ugly when there's "iy" or "yi", most often it's totally redundant!!

Korneyia is terrible. Wonder if people called her Korney as a kid? Neyia's spelling is (obviously) painful, but it's not that weird. I went to high school with a Nia (pronounced the same way).

My husband once had a waitress at IHOP named Crayola...like the crayons.
