My baby girl is one week old today. We named her Rosalie Jade, ready to deal with the "omg lyk frum Twilight?!?! you must be totally obsessed with the books!!!1" comments.

WDYT? Surprisingly, I haven't received a single Twilight comment which has saved me a lot of headache. Are people just being nice and not saying anything, or is the connection not as obvious as I thought it was? If you're familiar with the books, do you instantly think Twilight when you hear the name Rosalie?

I haven't read all the books, only the first one, and my mind immediately leaps to Twilight when I hear that name.

Rosalie is not synonymous with twilight. Might be different if Twilight has invented the name or something, like Renesmee.

Even people who are twilight fans today will not be thinking about the name by the time your girl is heading to school.

Apparently it is a mash up of Esme + Renee and is pronounced Reh-ness-may. I think. I could be wrong. (I couldn't stand the series long enough to commit it to memory).

Renee is Bella's mom, Esme her mother in law, sort to speak. The idea was sweet enough, but it did make a horrendous name. Thankfully they mostly called her Nessie; I hated having to read that name over and over again.

I don't think of Twilight when I hear Rosalie. I liked all of the names used in Twilight sans Esme and Carlisle before the books were ever published. All of the names used in the series are extremely classic and I'm actually kinda glad Twilight brought back the "use classic names" trend. I honestly think of roses when I hear Rosalie. I think Rosalie Jade is a beautiful name, my fiance also agrees.

I know! I actually didn't like the name Esme until Twilight came out because I had only seen it spelled "Esmie" and thought that it looked a little too childish.

I think it's beautiful and I don't necessarily think of Twilight at all. Stephanie Meyer didn't invent the name Rosalie. Congratulations on your baby girl. :)

Rosalie is a beautiful name and I don't see it as such a twilight-themed name. She's hardly even in it.

I love Rosalie Jade. Congrats :)

I think of my friend's sister - and that it's really a lovely name. Congratulations!

I kind of do think Twilight. It's not like it's the only thing I think, and I know Stephenie Meyer didn't invent it or something, but right now, that's just why it's getting more press. Same with Jasper. But it's entirely possible that your friends just aren't people who are into Twilight. In that case, lucky you. I just don't like the name Jade, and Rosalie isn't my favourite Ros- name, but it flows well.

I do instantly think Twilight, because I'm a fan and because I wasn't familiar with the name until I read Twilight. But I'm perfectly aware that it's a valid name completely aside from Twilight. So, if I met you and your baby, I met ask if Twilight inspired you, but I wouldn't *assume* it had.

Lovely name, by the way.

LOL! I was in love with Esme, then I typed it in and saw a Twilight reference. Immediately ruined the name for me. : (

I don't instantly think Twilight, and I've read the books, although I didn't much enjoy them. I think it would be different if you were naming your kid something like Cullen, but I don't see Rosalie as a Twilight themed name. And Rosalie Jade is lovely.

LOL! But Cullen was on my list before Twilight was ever published! I hate when perfectly good names are linked to pop culture. The Harry Potter series is full of beautiful names that can't be used without someone screaming that you stole it from HP lol!

I know, it is frustrating. I think Hermione is lovely but I know that I could never use it because of the HP link (as much as I like Harry Potter!)

I thought of twilight but I recently read the series. Rosalie is a secondary character through most of the series and you only really get development in the fourth book so I doubt people will make the connection. Honestly I think it's one of two decent names in the entire series and Rosie is such a cute nickname.

I think of Twilight, but the movie did just come out. I'm sure the craze will die down soon, and it won't be an issue.

I think it's a beautiful name, one I would consider naming my own future child someday.

My BFF from HS was named Rosalie so I always think her. And I had no idea there was even a character named Rosalie in Twilight. Course I am Twilight lame (& hope to always remain that way!!)

Didn't even occur to me....but then I avoid Twilight like the plague LOL!. I think its a very pretty name.

I adore the name Rosalie, but have never and will never make the connection to the book. I don't even know anything about that series.

I definitely don't think others will think of Twilight.

I haven't read or watched any of the Twilight stuff but Rosalie has been around LONG before Twilight.

In fact, I LOVE Rosalie, and I like Jade. Overall, I really like the name!

I like it! Very pretty. As a non-Twilight fan, the only names that would scream "Omg Twilight" to me are Jacob, Edward, and Bella.

I don't know anything about Twilight so I wouldn't make that connection. My daughter is Luna and I'm shocked I don't get a million "LIKEOMG from Harry Potter?!?!" comments. Not complaining though.

When I hear any baby name now that is also in Twilight, I assume that they chose it because of the books. Even Edward which should be a pretty common name, but it has definitely come into a new light.
A friend of mine went a step further, she just named her son Jasper Carlisle. Our whole bible study class laughed when we heard it, because most of us have just read the books and it is so obvious where the names are from.
I ran into her later in a waiting room and we discussed names. She tried to say that Jasper was a family name on the dad's side. I was thinking- sure, wonder how long it took her to look in his family tree and find a Jasper!
That being said, Rosalie is a great name.
Also, if I hear the name Luna I assume they got it from HP too.

Congrats on your new baby daughter! The name Rosalie has been on my favorites list for years. I've never read any of the Twilight books, but my daughter has read all of them, and I've never heard her mention the name Rosalie.

I think Rosalie Jade is a gorgeous name. :)
