Some of these names just beggar belief?!?!?

Her mammoth brood now comprises Patrick, 23, Stephen, 13, Malachai, 12, Peppermint, 11, Echo, 10, Eli, nine, Rogue, eight, Frodo, seven, Morpheus, five, Artemis, four, Blackbird, three, Baudelaire, two, and nine-month-old Voorhees.

Frodo and Morpheus...I'm sorry but I'm going to have nightmares of Matrix and LOTR crossovers tonight.

You have to feel bad for the children. But what do you feel worse about? The fact that they have some of the worst names possible...or because their mother is insane and they get to live with the knowledge that she only had them, and their brothers and sisters, in a desperate attempt to have multiples, so they automatically, from the time they were conceived, even though it was planned, will never live up to the expectations of their parents. They will never be good enough because there weren't two of them.

What are the chances of having triplets, or even twins, these days without the help of fertility treatment?

But wow, some of those names are really special.

Well, the odds are the same as they ever were. Twins, triplets, even quintuplets have happened throughout human history without the slightest help from technology. But I kind of think that if the multiple thing ran in her genes, it would have come out by now.

I believe the odds for a particular woman go up however with each pregnancy and with age, so she is likely to have some eventually I guess, if she continues. However, I don't think she should make any twins she might have out to be more special than the other children.

Yeah, I wonder how things will turn out when/if she finally has twins and they just turn out to be normal-baby-times-2. Will it make her face reality and become less crazy? Or will it shatter her mind and make things worse?

I want to speak up in defense of this lady. Despite some of her insane naming choices (Frodo? Seriously? Though I kind of like Peppermint), she is having children because she wants them. She is taking good care of them and giving them a good environment. As opposed to the crack ho down the street who has five kids because she's too stupid/irresponsible/high to hand her man a condom, and lets them run wild in the street, where they join gangs trying to get some sense of family. Is this lady a little nutty? Yes, probably. Is it ideal that taxpayers are helping her reproduce? No, but taxpayers are paying for the crack ho's food stamps, too. And those children's reduced-cost lunches, and remedial school help, and prison cells when they get older.

This lady could be a lot worse.

Sorry but I feel I need to point out that no, no she's not... tax payers are and I think it's sad that she's having them because she wants TWINS not because she wants them. Don't get me wrong, I totally see what you're saying but to me this lady and the crack whore have ONE difference and that is that the crack whore is getting high from crack and this lady on the idea that she will have twins one day... she is having kids other people are taking care for just because she can basically... she doesn't have money to afford them...

From: [identity profile] pegasus2o5.livejournal.com
She is taking care of them; even if she is using other people's money to do so, she is still the one cooking the meals, washing the clothes, cleaning the house, etc. And many people use government assistance of one sort or another, even if it's just a tax break for having a big family, that's government aid for children you chose to have. I admit I would have more respect for her if she'd chosen to stop at the number of kids she and the father could support on their own, but if you want to have a big family and the government provides the aid you need to do that, I can understand thinking, why not? I admit the twin thing is nutty, but you don't know if the reporter might have misinterpreted her or if she was serious. Anyway how many second and third daughters exist because the parents wanted to try for a boy? (Or vice versa.) It doesn't mean the parents don't love their child once she/he arrives.

I just think that of all the ways to end up on government assistance, doing it because you love children and want a big family is probably not the worst.

Frodo, Peppermint, Blackbird, and Voorhees....I'm speechless.

I dig Malachai, Echo, Baudelaire, and Eli, though...can even forgive Artemis (if its a girl...a boy named Artemis...well....)

Well, the names are certainly crazy. The funny thing is that I don't mind that fact as much as I mind the fact that they have a few normal names thrown in. lol They just don't fit with the others.
I am not going to say anything against the woman wanting lots of children, I hate it when people try to tell others how many they should have. But, I do wonder how all the kids will feel if she finally has twins. She already talks like those twins will be more important than all the others.
Also, I can't believe how much personal/financial info is in this article. Seems very nosy indeed.

Yeah, from another article I saw, Malachai and Eli are named after characters from "Children of the Corn", Voorhees... you know who, Baudelaire and Artemis children's book characters, Rogue, Frodo and Morpheus sci-fi/fantasy characters, and Blackbird and Ehco incidental things from during the pregnancy.

...

Yup.
