WDYT of Hermione?

Still too Harry Potter...? Not that it bothers me, but my friends would NEVER believe I liked the name from the Shakespeare play and not HP... seeing as though I'm the biggest Potter fan one could ever imagine.

Shame shame. Oh well. I still love it. ;)

I like it a lot too, but I think it will probably always have a HP stigma attached to it. Not that that's a bad thing; at least Hermione is an awesome character!

Since a lot people don't know it's also from Shakespeare, I think most [people] will probably automatically attach it to Harry Potter. Kind of like how Casper is forever the ghost and Lolita is the Vladimir Nabokov character... =/
It's not my style, but it's okay.

well if it'll make you feel better I was reading your comment and going "ghost? what ghost??"

OP - Yeah most people will think of HP but at least it's a nice character.

Oh, hahaha, that's cool. :)
I like the name, but I wouldn't want my child to be forever associated with Casper the Friendly Ghost- especially since I personally don't find the character all that cool, lol. ^^;

I like it. I don't think it's a big deal if people attatch it to HP (which they will forever) and not Shakespeare entirely... not like it's a bad association, in my opinion.

I just find it extremely annoying to pronounce and in the movie they're not even consistent with it: sometimes it's Her-MY-oh-nee, others it sounds like Her-my-OH-nee, others like HER-mony etc. How IS it even pronounced in English? :P

In Italian -well, arcaic- it's Air-mee-OH-nay (also spelled Ermione), it's the title of a poem by Gabriele D'Annunzio, famous poet from the 1900's :)

And I forgot, yeah a little too HP these days, but if you really like it, then it shouldn't be holding you back from using it!

I live in the northeastern US, and everyone I know pronounces it as "her-MY-oh-nee." When I first started reading the books though, I thought it was pronounced "her-MOYNE"...oops!

I wouldn't personally use it, but it's a cute name. Just not one of my faves. My friend has a son named Harry. (and she's not even a Harry Potter person, it's just a name she liked) So if he's alright, Hermione will be just fine ;) go for it if you like it.

I think it's a bit too Harry Potter, but as the others said, use it if you want to. It's your choice and if you really, really like it, you should go with it. It's a good name.

Oh, go for it. The world needs more Hermiones! :) Seriously, it's a pretty name, so I don't think it's a problem. It's not like you're trying to name the kid Albus or something.

I first liked it in 6th grade when I saw it on the credits for Mary Poppins. Of course, I didn't know how you pronounced it, but it looked neat! XD So yes, I have a soft spot for it. It IS very Harry Potter, but if you like it and don't mind hearing about it from people from time to time, go for it.

I'll always associate the name with Harry Potter, but I think it's a nice name. Maybe use it as a middle name?

i definitely think everyone will immediately associate it with harry potter, but either way, i'm not a fan. i think it'd make a good middle name.

I love it and I would name my daughter this. I also LOVE Harry Potter and don't care at all if people attach it to HP.

I love the name Matilda, but everybody automatically thinks of the Dahl character because that movie plays almost once a week on the Family channel.

It's NMS but I don't think it's a bad name at all.
