[identity profile] charitylove1989.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I found that people who commented didn't read ANYBODY else's comments. (this is not everyone who commented) because there was a lot of repeats that were unnessary. Esspecially on me liking the letter Y in names...did you REALLY not catch on to this??? Well now i spelt it out.

Anyways back to names, it appears that the three most liked names were
Claire
Emma
Grace

But thank you for the input even the repeated unnecessary ones I appreciate it. :D

Actually I REALLY DID catch on to it, and I then told you how I dislike that you like to use y's.

Not sure if you mean it that way or not but this post comes off as super bitchy. And for the love of grammar, "spelt" is not a word. It's a type of wheat. "Spelled."

But as for the names I'm inclined to agree with those who commented. Those are the three best names, spellings considered, from your list. IMO.

Spelt is correct, actually. Apparently it's not used in the U.S., but it's an accepted past tense form of 'spell' in every other English dialect. :)

iawtc. On the internet, it's even quite easy to double check in the multitude of dictionary websites about the word before declaring how WRONG!!! someone is for using it -.-

Seriously!?! Well I admit my error then.

But you know we Americans are always right so everyone should do things our way!!! (I kid, I kid.)

Haha, no worries. I know that many people just genuinely do not realize that 'spelt' is actually correct. And really, I don't think that it is generally accepted in the U.S. But everywhere else (or at least in Canada and Britain), it is.

I can actually remember my 11th grade English teacher ripping classmates to shreds when they used the word "spelt." :X

I can't tell if you're trying to be snarky, or if you're actually serious. In the first case, I have no response, sorry. If you are serious, and you want to know more about differences between American and British (or Canadian, or Australian) grammar and spelling, there are plenty of internet resources out there.

I'm in the US, I've used it, always felt it was a real word, yet never heard anyone ever use it, glad to know I wasn't dumb, I knew I got it from somewhere, even if it's not common here. Of course, I also used to have a tendency to put 'u' in certain words as well. I must read too much English lit or something, I have no idea.

This is a busy community, so in the future, if you feel the need to either thank or berate the members here for giving you the opinions that you asked for, please just edit your original post, especially if the original post is only one post down in the community. Thanks.

Did you seriously get on here and ask people their opinions and expect no one to answer the same? What's the big deal that a lot of people felt the same way about your love affair with the letter y? You asked for opinions and you got them. Who asks a question and expects no one to have the same answer and then is a complete twat about it? Are you that dense?

I was under the impression that more than one person could dislike the same thing... I think most people were, actually.

Don't ask for opinions if you don't want them. Again: just because one person has an opinion on something doesn't mean that someone else doesn't have the SAME opinion - why is only one of those people allowed to express it? If anything, it's better to get a lot of the same feedback. What if you listened to someone who's opinion was the odd one out, and you ended up naming a kid something completely weird that nobody except for that one LJ member liked? (pretending you're listening to the opinions here and plan to use one based on said opinions)

ha! Good stuff, this melodrama.

For future reference, if someone has replied that they hate Grace and Emma, but I like Emma, but not Grace, can I still reply?

Most people don't read everyone else's comments before posting. There really is no need to be snotty about it. If you like the letter "y", then use it and don't ask for everyone's opinions if you really don't want them.

So because multiple people disagree with you over the unnecessary letter Y, you violate community rules and double post to complain about it? Adding the 'Thank you for the input even the repeated unnecessary ones' and a smiley comes off as a tad condescending on the Internet. Even if you didn't intend for it to be that way, these things don't always translate very well in typed form.

Hang on -so I'm not to comment that I like Natalie better than Nataly purely because someone else has already done so? If you ask for people's opinions, that's what you're going to get, and it might turn out that several people share an opinion.

It's not that no one reads the previous commenters' replies, it's that we all our entitled to EXPRESS such opinions, that's how democracy does it, ever heard of that before?

So if 928379837 already told you they dislike improper use of "y"'s in name, it's perfectly within #928379838's right to SAY IT AGAIN. Duh.

omg! I missed the bitchery!! damn you internet filters not working last night!

But...

just so you know if you write out something stupid and get back that it's stupid and yet you still feel the need to bitch about it... people commenting are not the one with the problem... and there's no rule out there about reading the previous 20+ comments before commenting. I tend to skim them unless it's a thread like this and the comments are more than 'it'd be a good name if you'd just spell it right' and so forth.

and I agree with the lolcats by the way...

I must have missed the part of the community rules that say that I must read every comment before replying, and that comment must be different than everyone else's comment.

And you'll be happy to know I put off getting my kids ready for school just so I could read all 35 posts and make sure my comment was unlike any other<3

You asked for opinions on baby names, and you got opinions on baby names. People probably only liked Claire, Emma and Grace because they were spelled correctly.

How did you find out that the people who commented neglected to read ANYBODY else's comments? Did you take a poll?
If you ask for feedback, be prepared to get it.
We get it.
You like Ys.
A lot.
Many of us do not, and since you asked, we let you know.

Did you REALLY not catch on to this???
