girl names that have y sounding endings are supposedly not taken as seriously

Guess I should've been a lawyer then...

Well, a female Bruce may be able to be a judge, but that's still a horrible name for a girl. Bruce. How is that feminine at all? I'd say Cameron and Kelly are unisex, but Bruce?

and its a horrible name for a boy as well imo!

Well, my name (Steve) is probably as ridiculous on a girl as Bruce, and this is the first time I've ever seen someone make a predicition based on it that wasn't 'dude, she's going to be messed up...' Which, you know, is nice...shame I didn't study law.

shakespeare had it wrong with there's nothing in a name thing. i changed my name from sarah to eli (pronounced w a long i & short for my middle name elizabeth. and seriously, there has been an enormous difference in how ppl treat me- much more respect. it helps too that i do fit my new name as well (which isnt that new these days

Interesting- I'm currently in law school. We have a couple Kelly's, but in my opinion that name has been basically taken over by females. Other than that, all I can think of is one female Morgan. I guess the rest of us are in trouble!

That's so interesting and so...wrong. Hopefully there will be some more research on why this is the case, looking at psychological factors and connotations when one sees a name etcetera. Ah, why oh why do people still associate capability with masculinity! *frustration*

I like Morgan and Alexis for girls, although the latter is becoming too trendy for my taste. I also always liked Dylan...but I wouldn't use it because there are other names I like a lot more.

Alexis is/was a masculine/male name? I had no idea.
