last night, i met a girl named athena. she has a sister named fay, step-sisters molly and maggie, and half-sister marie (there was another half-sister, i think it started with a j...?). i implied that she "lucked out in the cool name department", and she hesitated a second before laughing, "yeah, i did. i love my name!"

ps- i need ideas of boys names, preferrably with at least two nickname possibilities (eg daniel-dan-danny). i really appreciate it :D

Outta curiosity, what nationality was Athen? I've recently fallen in love with the name but all my bf can think of is the greek goddess :P We are Italian and Polish and a whole slew of other things too. But I hadn't really thought of it the way he did till he mentioned it. I feel like it would be okay. But I think he feels Athena would sound weird on a kid of ours if/when we have one. :P oy

oh and for boys names... uh hrm well to add to lind_saay's suggestions, boy names I like with more than 1 nickname are:
James- jim, jimmy, jamie
Anthony- ant, tony

Also for Joseph in addition to joe, joey and joss he could be Jay. A friends dad goes by this.

other boys names I like but that dont have many nicknames are:
Leo
Nickolai
Andrew- andy

I recently heard of an Athena (under 1 year old, I think) whose nickname is Theeny. I like the name, but the nickname sounds awkward to me :/

Athena and Fay(e) is such a lovely sibset!

I also know a girl named Athena. She has two sisters and they are both named after goddesses too. Isis and Brigid. They're the children of a professional dancer.

Boy's names: Nathaniel (Nathan/Nate); Trevor (Tre, Trev); Edward (Eddie, Ed); Andrew (Andy, Drew)

Just the way it seems - like Bridget, but with a "d" sound at the end. I think the truly Celtic spelling is Brighid, but I guess her mom felt that was a bit much.
