Okay, I'm confused. I've been under the impression that Braden (whatever spelling) was only recently trendy... or further.. only recently a name. Yet, in the past week, I've met three different Bradens (two Braden, one Brayden) - all of them born in 1991. Meaning, these Bra(y)dens are all 18 years old. I can't believe the name's been around for so long, weird.

On an unrelated note, some of you may know from seeing some of my comments that I'm basically obsessed with the name Nolan. I've somehow got my boyfriend from thinking "worst name in the world / would never name my son that" to "I'll consider it / if it means that much to you, I could." However, he would prefer us choosing a name we BOTH like (which makes sense - not that I'm even pregnant, but you know). We both like Elliott (unsure if we'd want two ts or just one) and Max for boys, and somehow, despite his hatred of my top boy names (Nolan, Miles, and Desmond), Scarlett is number one for both of us for females.

WITH ALL THAT SAID:
1) I'm not too fond of "full name" versions of Max, but I can't really think of a middle name that flows well with just Max. Any suggestions?
2) Scarlett. Any nice nicknames? I have a cat named Owen who I often just refer to as "O" which sometimes turns into "O-zone (layer)" or some other completely unrelated thing that begins with the "O" sound ... I'd like to avoid referring to a daughter as "Scar face" or "Scar butt" or whatever since uh, it's probably not nice.
3) And while I'm at it, I might as well ask for any suggestions of girl names I might like (based on the boy names I listed) since other than Scarlett, I don't love any girl names. Heck, I hardly like any - I could barely think of 4 for that "create a family" in the previous post!

I agree with you on Max...including not having any good middle names.

For Scarlett I'd probably call her Lettie. But, ya know, as far as baby names go, kids will always find a way to make fun of your name-I was Savanah Banana. If your first name isn't that make-fun-able, there is always the last name. A girl in my school was Amber Faddis. Which turned into Fat Ass. Or my husband's last name is Greybiehl (gray-biel, like Jessica Biel) and his nickname, even at work, not just from his school days, is GrayBalls.

Your names seem a little more old fashioned...uhm...Amelia, Abigail, Ruby, Edith, Emma, Isabel/la, Elizabeth

I'm using Isabel as a middle name myself:) And Amelia is my daughter. Heck, Emma was the little sister of a guy I dated, named after her grandma, I thought it was a pretty name, along with Ella, but it didn't seem to fit you well.

I honestly wouldn't worry about the nickname thing. they tend to just happen. (my youngest brother's name is Austin. his most common nn is Beaner, for example.) but, my grandpa told me that if I ever did use the name Scarlett (my favorite name as well) he'd probably call her Lola. I don't even know. I guess Scarlett > Lettie > Lottie > Lola? maybe?

Very true on the nickname thing. My son's name is Elijah and my mom calls him Boo and my husband calls him Junior, even did when we were just dating. Amelia is my daughter, and my mom calls her Boops, my grandma calls her Spoot Doodle. Obviously...my family is weird.

1. As for Max, I think it sounds good with three-syllable middles that start with a vowel sound. Everett, Augustus, Abraham, Alastair, Adrian, Isaiah, Elliot, Ulysses, etc etc.

2. I know a little girl Scarlette who goes by Lette.

I'd use Lottie as a nn for Scarlett.

2. "Car" names maybe? like Carly, Carrie?

This was going to be my suggestion, as well. I love the name Scarlet, and the only nicknames I can think of for it that I actually like are Carla and Carly.

I know two Brayden's in their late 30s.

My grandfather was Max Alexander and eventhough I hate the name Max I always thought that sounded really nice.

I agree with others who have said Lette/Lettie for a nm for Scarlett.

my nephews full name is max and they used a family maiden name for his middle. before that though, it was my favorite boys name and i had max edward picked out, after my grandfather. i would stick with something longer, at least two syllables, preferably three.

im not really much of a fan of scarlett personally, so im not sure what you would like, but a few sugggestions...?

violet
georgia
anna/annabelle/anneliese

also nicknames... sally, cara?
