Boy Names

We found out yesterday our baby is a boy. We are in need of boy names.

So far, this is what we have on the list so you have an idea of what we like (my husband and I have complete opposite tastes).

Ethan
Marcus
Linus
Lucien
Aidan
Rhys/Reese

...and we're pretty much stumped beyond that. The one we're really gravitating toward is Ethan. I would prefer not to go with something common like Aidan. I've already been told that Linus sounds wimpy and Lucien sounds scary.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Ethan is a great name (it's my brother's first name and my son's middle name) but if you don't want to go common then Ethan is probably not such a good idea. I think it's ranked #3 in popularity.

I like Linus. What about Oliver or Asher?

I adore Rhys, my fiance and I plan on using it for a boy (when and if we have one).

Ethan is fairly popular, but not trendy like Aidan. I also kind of like Marcus.

Ethan is one of my top boy names. As is Elliott, my first is Elijah, if we had another boy it would be Elliott Henry. PS: the E thing isn't on purpose, it seems I only really like E names! That and my other loves don't fit well at.all. with my last name, LOL:)

Ethan is also a pretty common name. Not as common as Aidan, I don't think. but still up there. I love Marcus, Linus and Lucian (with an a).

I'd say the difference is that Aidan is really, really trendy right now, while Ethan's just popular, if that makes sense to you at all.

If it's trendy it's popular, but popular doesn't always mean it's trendy. Kind of the old rectangle = square but square =/= rectangle. Ethan kind of follows trends nowadays too, since there are so many boys name that have that -en/-an ending.

I don't think that Linus sounds wimpy or Lucien sounds scary at all...not everyone is going to have the same opinions on your baby's names so you should go with what you like, don't cross it off your list just because one or a couple people said that.
