two people i met recently...

a teenage girl named tucker

and a woman in her twenties named brett

i really despise the taylor/jordan/bailey/morgan/riley unisex style names, but these dont bother me, surprisingly.

what are your thoughts?

I like Brett because it reminds me of Lady Brett Ashley. I can't bring myself to name my daughter that but it's a guilty pleasure of mine.

Tucker, eh.

Brett Ashley is who I immediately thought of too. And I also love it for a girl.

The only Brett I've known of is Britney Spears's assistant (female) lol
It sounds like it should be a nickname for something, but it's not bad.
Tucker on a girl is yuck.

I hate both. I don't like Tucker as a boy name and I don't like Brett either.

My fiance's younger brother is Brett. So it's even more of a masculine name to me. Plus, Brett Favre... but don't get me started on Brett Favre. XD

I hate Tucker even for a boy. Because if they ever have to play the name game, it would be "Tucker tucker bo bucker banana fanna fo FUCKER".

Brett is one of my favorite boy's names. Not sure how I feel about it on a girl. I've seen it spelled Brette for girls before.

tucker bugs me. it's too masculine.

brett doesn't. i knew a girl all through high school who was elizabeth nn brett and it worked for her.

tucker is too boy for me.

I really like Brett, as a nickname for Elizabeth.

I don't like either name for either sex. I especially think they suck on girls. Just my opinion.

Only time I ever heard Brett on a female was Brett Butler (Grace Under Fire anyone?) and I still think Brett is more of a male's name. Then again, I'm not one for 'unisex' names anyway.

To me, they're both definitely boys' names.
Tucker isn't great in general, but I think it's way too masculine for a girl. X(

i dig the brett, but totally not a fan of tucker, since that is my BOY cousin's name, i could never see it on a girl..

i am, however, a fan of the kind of 40s boy names for girls. Like I could totally somehow get nicknames of Frankie, Billie, Tommie, things of that nature, for my daughter. My husband would never agree to that, ever, but i LOVE it.

Maybe it was after Brett Butler from Grace Under Fire. I hope I'm not the only one that remembers that sitcom, lol.

Tucker for a girl is just weird though.

They both sound male to me. But I know two 30-ish woman named Beach and Fletcher, which are similarly androgynous-but-masculine.

My thoughts are that some people shouldn't be allowed to breed :/

Brett... eh... not liking it.

Tucker is cute for a teenager, like a nickelodeon show sort of thing back in the day... on a grown woman? I don't think so.

I went to highschool with a girl Brett, it fit her well and she'd be 20's now, I wonder if its the same one.

Tucker is all male to me.

I hate the name Tucker, and it sounds vile on a girl.
Brett reminds me of Brett Butler (Grace Under Fire) and Brett Somers (Match Game). I think I like it as a nickname.

I'm 23 and grew up with a female friend named Brett. There was also a guy named Brett in my grade starting in middle school. I guess that's why it's always seemed like a unisex name to me.

I've never heard Tucker on a girl before. Interesting.

Tucker may be the least elegant name I've ever heard.

I haven't ever heard of a Bailey as a boy but I have heard Ashley as a boy...
