I was in the park the other day walking by the playground and this mother was chasing after her son about 3 years old and his name is Holden. I'm not liking it because of the book The Catcher In The Rye, Holden was just crazy.

But, WDYT

I like the name and the book, but I'm not sure I'd ever use it.

I've been hearing that name a lot lately! I think it's chosen by people who like the trendy -en sound but want a more literary association. I am not a fan because of the character, even though the book is good.

I love the book and like the name (though not because of the book). I've noticed more people using it for girls though, which I don't like.

It's my son's name, so obviously I like it. He's not named after the asshole in Catcher in the Rye, I just... felt one day when I was about seven months pregnant that he was a Holden.

He's eight by the way. We weren't trying to be trendy and his name totally suits him.

I love the book, I love the character, and I love the name. I would definitely use it.

I hate the book (not just the character, but definitely the character too), love the name. it has a nice meaning. I don't like it enough to name my child that, even though I think I'm able to disassociate it from the book. besides, I really doubt that everyone from my generation would make the connection (one of my friends likes Holden because of The Good Girl...)
