Can anyone think of a name that would use Amy as a nick name? I love the name Amy but it seems like more of a nick name to me. There is a girl in my college class name Amiella.  Pronounced Amy-Ella. Its..different.

I had to check your profile and make sure you weren't talking about my sister, who is an Amanda but has always been called Amy. ;) How weird, I thought she was an anomaly!

I think you can get away with pretty much any Am- name.
Some ideas:
Amelia
Amelie
Amandine
Amalia
Amaryllis
Amaya

I know a whole bunch of people named Amy and it's not a nick name for any of them.

But I would suggest Amelia - pronounced Ah-meal-ea. Or you could go with something like Amilyn - pronounced Amy-Lynn.

I'd use Amy for America (one of my favorite names about 10 years ago, way before Ugly Betty)

the first name i thought of was amelia, but really, amy is a completely legit full name. if you like it, i think you should use it!

I consider Amy a full name, and it confuses me when it's used as a nick name.

as a child of the 70s/80s, i know tons of amy's who are just amy. ive never seen it as a nickname to something else.

my first thought would be amelia, however.

I think Amy is actually a lovely name on its own. If you wanted to fancy it up, I have a friend who spells her name Amie.

Going with the spelling change idea, you could also spell it the French way: Aimee.
