I like Eleanor better, and out of the two I prefer Lenora. Not really my style, but every person I've ever known named (or nn) Nora has been a sweetheart, so I have no objections to it.
i really really like lenore! lenora is nice too, but i think lenore is prettier. nora is a cute nn too. eleanor seems super common the past few years, i think lenore is a good alternative. not so common, and i think the poe association is neat. :)
I'm not a member of this community and was just browsing through, and I saw your post on the first page.
Lenore is my most favorite, favorite, favorite name in the world! My husband doesn't like it, though. :( We were going to compromise on Eleanor, but I really don't like Ellie or Elle as a nickname . . . I'd prefer Nor or Nori. If I can't have the name, I'd love to see someone else use it! (We still have a month until our baby's born, though, and I'm still holding out a little hope he'll come around to Lenore!)
I just realized . . . You were the mom-to-be in pregnant who was going to use Ardith as a middle name. I commented and said I was, too! Apparently we have similar taste! What other names are you considering (besides Lucy)??? We're having such a hard time over here, and I'd love to hear suggestions from someone with the same train of thought.
Hey! Yes i'm going to still use Ardith as a middle name. Lucy is still up in the air, but here are some others we were considering: Everly Emery/Emory Ember Elaine Eleanor Evangeline
And now Lenore.
As you can see, we liked the E names. I just think they sounded the best with Ardith, but now I'm in love with Lenore...so who knows. Eleanor is still a huge option for us too. We're name twins!
Ever and Ember briefly blipped my name radar, but the husband didn't care for them, and I wasn't TOO taken with either one. Our latest idea is to ditch Ardith as a middle name and just do Edith as a first name (my dad is Arnold, his mom was Edith, hence Ardith, but my dad would be just as honored to have his mom's name as he would a combination) with one of my husband's grandmothers as the middle.
Or the baby will pop out a boy!!! (In which case we're considering Northrop.)
See you around, name twin! ;-) -Dee, who is still holding out for Lenore Ardith

I prefer Lenore. Lenora is too Adam's Family to me. Norah as the given name would also work and be less obvious.
