I don't know if its different in different countries, Im from Australia, and if I were to see Siobhan, I had a friend called Siobhan, and she pronounced her name Shiv-vahn. If I saw the name Seamus I would have pronouned it See-muss. I guess they are two names that you can choose how you would like to say them. I like the name Rachelle, which I was thinking you could have pronouned it Ray-shelle.

I'm not sure, but that is my 2 cents worth from Australia! *S*

I agree about Seamus being Shay-mus here in Aus..... and also I've heard Siobhan here pronounced more like "shi-vawn"

I actually went to school with a Shamus, whose parents basically gave him the phonetic spelling.

I'm sure it's already been said, but it's Shuh-vahn. Bh in gaelic is often a V sound

And Shay-mus

yup, those weird gaelics are always throwing weird letters around where they don't look like they'd fit. shi-vahn and shay-mus, like everyone else said. seamus is gaelic for James, but I don't know about siobhan.

Sha-VONNE and SHAY-mus. Seamus is a Scottish form of James.

I've always wondered how to pronounce Isolde. I've heard several pronunciations. And Ilse, which I *think* is EEL-sa or ILL-sa, but I'm not sure.

one of my best friends is siobhan (shiv-on) and when we were in grade school, we loved it when the supply teachers did attendance, the class would just sit and wait for her name to be called. only once did a teacher actually say it properly.

My friend Kia had that trouble, except no teacher ever got it right.
He's Kye.. why on earth his parents spelt it Kia, beyond me!
