[identity profile] schexyschteve.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I'm a lunch aide at a local elementary school, and I usually work with first graders. I'm still trying to learn names. There's this little girl who I've been calling Gabrielle (because I thought I heard some other kids calling her that). Well, today she informs me, "My name isn't Gabrielle." "What is it?" I asked.

"Jabria." Juh bree uh

In my defense, they sound similar and she's been answering to Gabrielle.

There's a little girl in one of the pre-k rooms at the school I work at named Garielle. I thought they accidentlly forgot the b for a while but no she's Gabrielle without the b.

I bet she's named after someone named Gary.

I can see how they sound similar...
I teach and we just got a new girl the kids seemed to be calling Swimmy
I said "Swimmy?" She nodded...I had her repeat it to me...she said "Swimmy" in a little voice...
turns out her name is Suemy pronounced Sue Emmy...if you say it quick- it does sound like Swimmy

Not to snark, but I don't think they sound at all similar?
