Oct. 1st, 2009 02:59 pmHi! I'm new to this community and thought I would ask for some thoughts/suggestions. I'm almost 13 weeks pregnant so we've started thinking about names. My name is Amanda May and while I like it, it never really had any meaning to me. My mom could never really tell me why she named me it except that, "No one liked Megan." So, she just went and picked one of the most popular names of 1983 instead or something. I want to pick names that mean something to me. So far we have:
Dominik James for a boy, Dominic was my husband's grandfather and James is my husband's/father in law's name. I want to spell it Dominik because it's the Slavic spelling. My husband comes from a very Italian family, and I come from a very Polish one. I feel like it would be making a nod to both families that way.
For a girl I'm rather in love with Aurelia. Again, it's a name most commonly used in Germany, Italy, Poland, and Romania, so I think that it would be a great way to incorporate both nationalities. My husband is a little at odds with the name, he thinks that it is a beautiful name, but that it might be too strange. I like strange though. I'm hoping that the right middle name will sell him on it. I haven't been able to settle on a middle name though, I'm thinking about May though because it's my own middle name and I always loved it. It is a bit boring though and suddenly very trendy. Any ideas?
**Last name is Mangefrida.
Thoughts?
**Edited because sometimes my thought process loops around.
