Does anyone have a funny story behind the name, or the spelling of their name?
A friend of mine, Mathew is missing a T in his name. Mathew is also an accepted spelling, but he was supposed to be Matthew. His dad was drunk when he filled in the birth certificate form, hence he became Mathew!
Nothing exciting about mine - except that I was named after punk-pop artist Cyndi Lauper, who, in 1984 (the year I was born), won a Grammy for Best New Artist and selling nine million copies of her album She's So Unusual.
EDIT: Might be good to post these as comments, rather than new entries/posts, as I've seen my friends page majorly clogged with these "family names" post over the last 48 hours...

Date: 2006-06-23 05:25 am (UTC)The funny thing is, my parents didn't know this story when they named me. In fact, they didn't know that between the two sides of my family, there are at least 3 Carolines, if you go back far enough. All they knew was that my mother was supposed to be Caroline, and then too many other babies born in the same hospital that week were Caroline, so her parents chose something else and she ended up naming me Caroline.
