I posted a while ago looking for ideas for names for my boy twin. They're here now, six days old. We had a big brainstorming session while they were in NICU overnight and suddenly came up with one that we both adored. It hadn't even been on our radar.

So we have:

Finley Étienne Bélanger-Taylor (nn Finn)
Genevieve Madeleine Bélanger-Taylor (nn Vieve, pronounced "Veev")

who have joined

Alexander Damien Bélanger-Taylor (nn Xander)

in our no-longer-so-little family.

I think they're all fantastic! Well, I'm not a big Etienne fan, but it's a middle name so not a big deal. Genevieve is particularly wonderful. Congrats on the babies and congrats on the good naming choices!

Étienne is French for Stephen, in honour of their Grampa Steve who passed away two months ago.

I've always thought Étienne was feminine; you learn something new every day! Anyway, great names you have bestowed upon your children. Genevieve Madeleine is quite nice; I like it!

I must ask, though: there's obviously a French theme going on; why did you choose Genevieve over Geneviève?

We were planning on Geneviève right up to the very end... but then half my family couldn't say it and people find the accent in our surname confusing enough.
