Thoughts on Asa?
Sep. 8th, 2009 10:05 pmI recently posted asking for some help with the naming of my second son. My first sons' name is Micah. I like the lesser used Bible names. We have been toying with Noah and a few others, I like Luke and Elijah, but my hubby won't go for for them. Anyway, today I was suddenly reminded of the name Asa. Asa was a King in the Old Testament. I knew someone a few years ago who named her baby boy Asa and I thought it was awesome. I no longer work with her and her son is about 6 or so now and I doubt we will ever see each other again except in passing.
Anyway, I don't know if I like it enough to use it even though I think it is so cool. I think my husband feels it sounds feminine. I could see where that might happen. What do you think... upon first hearing Asa, what were your thoughts? We really don't want any unisex names. I know that some consider Micah to be one, but it is also an Old Testament Bible name and definitely male.
Thanks for any thoughts!

Thanks

Date: 2009-09-09 01:46 pm (UTC)I'd never heard it until recently, but my husband likes it as he apparently has some (male) ancestor named Asa. (but i obviously won't use it now, due to my friend's stepdaughter).

Date: 2009-09-09 09:46 pm (UTC)Elijah and Noah sound a little matchy... or maybe it's not that they sound that way but that when they're written next to Micah all I can see is the "ah" ending.
I have a Micah too, but it'll be awhile before we try for another and I have to worry about sibling names. :)
