What do you think of the name Magnolia (nn Nola)? Any middle name suggestions?

I think Magnolia in english sounds quite pretentious, I like it slightly better in Italian (close to Mun-YAW-lee-ah), however Nola as a nn doesn't work for me. I prefer Noa :)

i think magnolia is a little too long, or something. a dj on the radio station i listen to a lot has a daughter named magnolia and every time she says the name i'm like eh bad choice. nola sounds like a dog name. i think the only nn for magnolia that really works is maggie.

I think Nola is cute, but I hate Maggie.

All I can think of is Louisiana/New Orleans.

Magnolia is the state flower. NOLA stands for New Orleans, Louisiana. Maybe that's just because I'm from there. Aside from the connotations I don't care much for Nola as a nn...I'd like Maggie better.

It seems a bit pretentious, but I do like the sound. I love Nola. Not so sure about it as a nn for Magnolia though. It could work, I guess.

It'd sound kinda goofy on anyone who wasn't from the South. But as a name in general, it's lovely.

I love Nola by itself, I think that it's really pretty. I don't care much for Magnolia though.

I think it's alright. I knew a Magnolia nn Maggie, which I like better than Nola.

Sounds pretentious and long; I don't really like it as a name.

I think it's a beautiful, beautiful word... but will be incredibly hard to live with for the first 60 years or so.
