[identity profile] harinakshi.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I stumbled upon this community and figured, why not:)

My name is Savanah Wavie Marie. (Wavie is a namesake)

My son's name is Elijah Rafe BoDien (both middle names are namesakes)

My daughter's name is Amelia Rose Marie (Rose is a namesake)

WDYT?

My husband hates my son's middle names, and thinks two middle names are stupid.

I'm pregnant again. Our names are Collette and Elliott. We only have Henry (namesake) as a middle name. We are at a loss for middle names.

He doesn't want two middle names again, but with two kids with two, would that be fair?
Second, he's thinking more of a girl namesake of Elizabeth, his mom's name. But she gave her daughter that as a middle name, I don't want to "double it up" if you will. And I don't like Elizabeth. His other thought is Kylene, his older sister, she named her daughter Kyla....WDYT? (I think it's stupid, heh) I'm completely against it. My great aunt's health is failing, this makes me sad; her name is Violet....Collette Violet ______?

Sorry it's all so confusing:)

Not really an opinion, just saying grats - and wow! I think we were in the same birth comm and I give major props to anyone who can be pregnant and deal with this phase of toddler-hood at the same time!

I'm not a fan of two middle names myself, but I do know it would be unfair to give this baby just one middle name when his or her big siblings have two (so your husband just needs to suck it up lmao).

That said, for the boy:

Elliot Henry Ian
Elliot Henry Ryan
Elliot Henry Joseph

I don't have ideas for the girl name, sorry.

I don't like two middle names, but it would be weird for the new baby to be left out. I also like things to be even. :)

Elliott Colin Henry
Elliott Matthew Henry
Elliott Robert Henry

I wouldn't put Violet right after Collette. It's a very harsh sound at the end of both names.

Collette Elizabeth Violet
Collette Eliza Violet
Collette Elise Violet

Hey Savanah! I don't have a whole lot to add other than I LOVE Colette and I think Violet is very pretty. I also agree with the previous poster that you should stick to 2 middle names for the baby. What about using another form of Elizabeth as the 2nd middle name? You should be able to get a compromise out of John on that one :)

Colette Lilia Violet
Colette Isabel Violet
Colette Violet Lilibeth
Colette Lilly Violet
Colette Violet Elise

What about something like Collette Eliza Violet. If your hubby is opposed to two but wants Elizabeth in there, it might be a good compromise. You get Violet, and he gets Eliza. We're going to do that, not keep the full name but create a new one using the base of family names. Or Viola. I like that too. My great grandmother was a Violet and I'd love to get Viola into my daughter's middle name. Just a thought. : )

My GG went by Vi too. I love Vi short form but it is a little too short for a middle name unfortunately. I think Viola is so pretty too. My husband would never hear of it for a first name though because he says it's too much like the instrument. ROTFL!

My older sister has two middle names, I only have one. I have never once seen it as unfair. It seems like such a silly issue for one to argue is unfair.

The only name out of all of yours that I really like is Savanah, but even then I only like with the two N's. I think that if he hates both of your son's middle names, then maybe you should give him Elizabeth or Kylene. Collete Violet sounds too similar, the endings are too close for me.

Viola is a great idea... eliminates the slight oddity that comes from the -et sound on the end of both Collette & Violet.

I don't like two middle names. In fact, I don't like middle names at all, unless they have real meaning. Which your's do, so I think it's cool. It might feel a little awkward to you to give the new baby one middle name, but most people won't notice and the kid will likely not care. I have no middle name but my brother and sister both do and I'm not like in therapy over it or something.

I think Collette Violet is really pretty. And I agree with someone else's suggestion to use Isabel as a variant of Elizabeth. I think Collette Isabel Violet works well, actually. We are honoring an Elizabeth by using Isabel for our first child, who will be debuting in six weeks :)

Congrats on the pregnancy! Good luck!

Also, you mentioned that your aunt hates her name, but having someone named after her may make her appreciate it more.

IAWTC. I didn't like my name (well, I still hate it. But I appreciate it more.) until somebody told me they wanted to name their daughter after me...
