Which unisex names do you feel shouldn't be unisex?

For example, while the name Logan is used for both boys and girls, you feel it's masculine and should only be used for boys.

There was a woman on Martha Stewart today whose name was Tyler. I didn't like it. Normally I love unisex names, but that one didn't work for me.

I am naming my daughter Ryann, she should be here any day now.

Ryan and Dylan should not be unisex, they're boys names.

I'm sure I have more examples of this but I was just talking to my husband yesterday about the name "Brooklyn". It has two very girly names contained within it, Brook + Lyn yet, so many boys are being named Brooklyn. I blame Posh Spice. Also, as an aside, I hate the name altogether.

I used to agree with you on Dylan, until I met one. the name suited her perfectly, and now I'm okay with it as a female name.

Yes I've known an older man named Linn. Doesn't detract from the fact that Brook and Lyn are very girly sounding names.

I actually love the name Ryan on a girl. But I read your daughter's name as "Rye-Anne". The extra N gives it a entirely different pronunciation altogether.

Are you not from the US? Because Brook(e) is mostly a girl's name here.

Cameron should only be a boy's name for me, as should Casey.

Nearly all of them, but especially ones whose meanings are masculine. Like names whose meanings include "son of," like Madison, Addison, and Mackenzie.

Really the only unisex names I prefer on girls or like equally on girls are Meredith, Evelyn, Beverly, and Vivian.

Alex and Jordan, I love them for boys only and plan on using them some day. I can get away with Alex for a boy, when used with Alexander. However, I feel as if Jordan has become too widely known as a girl's name and it makes me sad. :(

I can't think of any that I dislike. maybe Logan, but that's it.

I really like a few boys names on girls though, like Kyle and Blake. but that's just me.

Kelly. I know it's originally a boy's name, but since I've known only girls with it, it seems like such a feminine name to me!

Some of these...I don't think they're considered unisex (not yet), but I have seen them on girls.

Logan, Tyler...all the "son of" names like Madison and Addison...Ryan, Dylan, Kyle, Blake, Ryan, James, Shawn, Riley. I'm pretty sure there are more, but this is what I can come up with off the top of my head.

I went to school with a Brooke-Lynne, which was definitely feminine. I don't think Brooklyn is a name, male or female.

A little of topic, but kind of related to your "son of" comment - I find it odd that Alison is a girls' name, with the obvious "son" suffix.

I have to be annoying here and point out that the suffix of Alison isn't 'son,' but rather 'on'.

Ah, I didn't think of that! So, it's Alice-on not Ali-son. Now I'm happier. Not sure why it needs the 'on', but hey ho.

Piggybacking the other commenter, Alison was originally a Norman diminuative of Alice.
