Just for kicks
Aug. 31st, 2009 12:52 amWhich middle name do you think is more fit ?
These are the ones I've toyed with so far, even if I'm pretty sure we'll leave the mn open to inspiration, once she's here.
(FTR: Alma is meant to mean "apple" in hungarian, and inspired by the movie "Into the Wild")
Alma Jade (Jade is the store where I bought the t-shirt I was wearing on our first date, and I was already considering it back then the possible name for our future daughter LOL)
Alma Parvati (this would sort of mean "apple of the mountain", which makes it quite fitting, imo, and also P is the initial of his mom's first name and my mom's maiden name)
Alma Taylor (after musician Taylor Hanson)
Alma Rebel (my SO actually likes this haha)
Alma Juno (after the fertility goddess, which is related to my profession, as well as the movie, I admit it!)
Alma Gabriella (I like -ella names and names that contain -abri, and this was my grandma's name. I also like that it starts with Ga-, after musical inspiration LadyGaga)
Alma Beatrix (after Kill Bill, where The Bride's name is also Arlene, like my middle name. My only qualm is that this movie was introduced to me by an ex-bf's, which I then introduced to my current bf, so I feel like it's not entirely "ours" ?)
Alma Marline (after yet another musical inspiration, Lene Marlin, and also after my middle name Arlene)
Alma Jasmine (I'm partially aiming at J names, but there are very few I like. Thing is, I'm allergic to jasmin and Yazmin is a birth control pill, and I'm a FAM teacher, so it's LOL)
WDYT? Other suggestions?
For personal reasons, I'm trying not to use names beginning with E, C, F, I and N.

Date: 2009-08-31 12:05 am (UTC)But it's kinda funny that I like Marline better than Marlene, especially since I changed my mn from Arline to Arlene :P

Date: 2009-08-31 12:04 am (UTC)the double -a sound is not a problem here in Italy, as 99% of girl names end in -a :) (last name ends with an -o)
hahaha I love your comment about Parvati :D
especially because I love how Tikka Masala sounds, and that's a typical indian dish!

thank you for your input!
I have to say, just writing this list has made me more aware of my sentiments about these names, and I realized that Gabriella is probably the one I have more reasons to be attached to!

Date: 2009-08-31 12:16 am (UTC)Alma Parvati doesn't quite work for me. The flow is just off somehow.
Alma Taylor also doesn't work for me, but I think the flow is okay.
Alma Rebel is interesting. I am usually one to think you can get away with a lot more with a middle name so if you really want to use it, I'd say go for it.
Alma Juno sounds very nice.
Alma Gabriella has too many repeating sounds to me, just because of them both ending in -a and being pretty vowel-heavy names. Although, you said you live in Italy and that's not a problem, in which case I think this is my favorite out of the list =)
Alma Beatrix flows really well. I don't like the name Beatrix but these names work together.
Alma Marline is nice, although I do prefer Marlene.
Alma Jasmine also has a great flow, but I always think of Yazmin whenever I hear it now, haha, because that's the pill I take.

Date: 2009-08-31 06:14 pm (UTC)Alma Jade
Alma Beatrix
None of those other names flow very well with Alma to me.
Alma is kind of an older name and I think it would be weird to pair it with something like Taylor, Jasmine, or Juno.
