So, you know Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have 2 kids together (and one from Will's previous marriage, Trey). They are Jaden and Willow. Named after their parents.

I think this is ridiculous, but people do it all the time! Can you think of some other examples?

Chris and Rose (my husbnd and I): Christina and Ross

I actually like the name Jaden...Willow I'm not so fond of, other than the trees. But yeah, the concept is ridiculous to me.

I can't think of any for my husband and I: Jeni and Jason

Well I guess we could do Jennifer and Jay...how interesting! or we could use the "son" from his name for Addison or Maddison...Lenny from Jeni. Yeah, or not!

Kyle and Kylee(or other spelling variation)
My husband's name is Kyle and people suggest that girl name to us all the time. Not happening.

Me too... but it was a joke in the beginning when we didn't know what we were having. People would suggest Kylie for a girl. I think either they are way past naming kids, or have never had to seriously think about naming their kids. Cause if they were in our shoes, they'd see how ridiculous that is! Although I do think Jaden and Willow works for Will and Jada... but that's rare!

I understand! my husband's name is Cale and we've met one girl Kale. People are always saying "You can name your daughter Cayle!" Yes because adding a 'y' makes everything better!

My husband is like, "we are NOT using my name for a girl's name!"

I don't think it's a great trend to encourage, because it's like the gateway drug to creating names that are combinations of the parents names. I had a mini namebook that actually recommended that, with such horrible examples as "Dally" for David and Sally.

I do like tribute names when they are well done, and especially after grandparents. I don't have any IRL examples, but in my sims game I have done:

Lauren after grandmother Laura
Daniel after grandfather Dan
Nora after grandmother Eleanor
Hannah after mother Anna
Cathryn with that spelling in honor of grandmothers Cara and Taryn

Jason & Tabetha = Jay and Beth.

I personally won't do it - but I don't see the big deal. People could do alot worse in my eyes.

Hahaha! Yeah, I think it's ridiculous too.

The first time I noticed something like this was years ago on the Young and the Restless - Nicky and Victor's kids were Nicholas and Victoria :/ Silly and obvious.

Kai + Trista = Kaia & Tristan
... I think it's a lot better than II's, III's & JR's.

I agree. I HATE it when people give their child the whole of one of their names. I despise the concept of JRs etc.

i don't think its that bad of an idea,as long as the parents dont end up giving their poor kids some out of this world rediculous names.

hmm..let me see if i can think of some useing LeRoy(fiance) and Jessika(me)-im using my fiance's middle name, the name he goes by,because his first name is Arvel..poor guy, not so bad,but he's the 3rd,and this name was ok back in the day,now-a-days,not so hot)

*LeNay(not so bad) and Jasson(hate it simply because of the spelling, lol)
*Jessa(overused) and LeMonte(i love this name, but i could never actually name my son this)

(for shits n giggles we'll use arvel on this one)
*Ariel(which we are actually namein one of our daughters,so not to far off..actually until this minute,i never even thought about how that worked out o_O lol) and Jesse(boring, but its the only thing i could think of with jessika:-P)

if i were using me and my sister(jessika and jennifer) i would use
*Jessa and Jenna(then again,i HATE it when parents name there kids so similar... even me and my sister,so many times ppl will call us the others name, even our parents!lol)

There was a girl in my class in middle school named Erica, and her little brother was Aaron. Her parents? Eric and Sharon. I always thought that it must get confusing, since their names are so similar. It would be hard to tell which name someone was calling.

On the other hand, Erica's father died suddenly and unexpectedly, and at that point, I thought that sharing his name was a nice was to be able to remember him.

That's interesting - do you have any thoughts or theories on why one way seems ridiculous and the other seems fine to you? Is it because of tradition?

(I personally would love to use a name to honor someone significant and admired, like my mother, but I would feel weird passing on my own name to a child of either gender. I am just not *that* important, ya know? ;))

granny is Anna
mom is Angelika
me is Annika

It's also very similar.

Haha, is there a feminine varient of Kevin?
Because if not, I don't think it'll work for me.

I could name my boy Stephen though (my name is Stephanie).
But that wouldn't be THAT weird, considering that's my father's name.
So I guess my parents already did it, haha.

Me (Julie) + bf (Daniel) = Julian & Danielle. Luckily my brother's name is also Daniel and I always made fun of him by yelling "DANIELLE!" and he'd yell "JULIAN" or "JULIUS" back. I have another brother named Andrew and I jokingly call him Andrea.

My next door neighbor and her ex-husband have 2 kids, a boy and a girl. The mom's name is Linda and the dad's name is Ken. Their children are Lindsay (girl) and McKenzie (boy). It annoys me so much, lol.

Sophy & Andrew

Felix? lol thats the best i could come up with. I used to want to go by 'Fee' instead of Soph.. i just think it's a really cute nickname.. but it never really caught on with most people!
For a daughter i'd go with Felicity nn Fee.

Andrea? Ick i HATE that name.
Drew for a girl? nahh

Anna and Jeremy

Jeriney and Aren? There's a radio DJ here named Jeriney.
Hannah and Jerad/Jeremiah? UGH. Hate Anna/Hannah combos. My first niece is Tana, which rhymes with Anna, and that's confusing enough. No rhyming for me thank you. Also all Jer- names sound like Jeremy. So no thanks to those, too.
Hannelore and Remy? I love Hannelore, suprising because I say it Hannah-lore. But it's easy to nn (Lorey or Nell) and the extra syllable makes it not rhyme with Anna. And Remy just seems dumb to me, but it was the only boy name I could think of.
