What do you think of the name Thor? I know a boy named Thor and his sister's name is Heather and his brother is Jacob (I think). I knew Thor when he was a little baby and it just didn't seem right calling a newborn baby Thor.

What do you think?

I think it's a horrid name.

Jacob, Heather... and Thor.

I think that kid is going to wonder why his parents hate him.

It seems like a short form for... something. Thorton. Thorley. Anything! Just not a full name. =S

I think it's great ... for a hammer swinging Norse God.
Not convinced a mortal could carry it off quite so well; lot of baggage with the mythology, and just generally awkward sound/feel.

That is an odd sibset, totally all over the place.

It's just VERY Norwegian is all, like Bjorn and Lars. Not really at all like Jacob and Heather. I had an English teacher named Thor Sigmar. He was pretty cool.

It reminds me of Carrie Fisher. There is a character named Thor in one of her novels and he is actually based on a former boyfriend of hers.

Hmm.
I like it, even though it is very different from the other two (which I'm not a fan of, in fact, while I like a lot of Norwegian names). As someone mentioned, it's a Norse mythology name, which I actually think is pretty neat; I like some other mythology names too. I wouldn't go adding it to my favorites list, but yes, I like it.

I knew a boy named Tor once, his family had a Norweigen background. It suited him but it'd be a hard name to pull off.

I like it, but I wouldn't use it. However, I LOVE Thora for a girl and would probably use it.

I like the name Thora, too. I'm not sure if I would use it though. But it is really pretty!

oh. i absolutely HATE it. there used to be this commercial on television, i have no idea what it was for, but the kid stood up and had a sign around his neck with his name written on it, and he would stand up and say "my name is thor." thats the first time i heard that name, and i think i was less than ten, and even then i was like WHAT THE...?!?!?!!? just such a gross name. yuck.

It makes me think his parents read Another Roadside Attraction by Tom Robbins
