lets talk about themes

I know most people here hate themed names but how many out there truly pick up a theme right away? Of course I know there are themes that are easy to pick up like naming your kids Jude, Sadie and Lucy or Poe, Hernest and Virginia but I was thinking of names I like  and I figured I'd like the meanings of the names I pick to have a theme...

I have posted before of the names I like for girls having to do with the moon and that still stands and it has gone to liking names of basically things having to do with the skies. For boys the theme is not that recurrent since my top picks have nothing to do with the sky but I do like a lot of sky/sun/stars/night themed named in the boy area too.

So... how about it? What would you think of lets say four children 2 b and 2 g named:

 Luna(g), Antares (g), Castor (b) and Apollo (b)

Would you pick up the theme?

Note: those are not my top picks but they are on my list, just randomly picked them.

I'm a fan of Luna and Castor, actually. I'm not one for name themes, but if I had to pick one, I think an astronomy-related one like that would be pretty cool.

All of the members in the Black family in Harry Potter are named after stars, constellations and other heavenly objects. I dig most of their names :o)

I also like Andromeda. It was the name of a character in the book My Sister's Keeper, but everybody called her Anna.

Anyways - I did pick up on the star/moon names right away. I think its cool, but I love astronomy.

first one Beatles songs (Hey Jude, Lucy in the sky with diamonds, and Sexy Sadie) and second one Edgar Allan Poe, Virginia Woolf and Ernest Hemingway (yeah I misspelled Ernest and added a silly H, sorry!).

I also love Astronomy really and mostly their meaning in mythology ^.^

I think if a lot of people notice is because I mentioned it... don't know how many people know what Antares actually is or why Apollo is in there. Either way Antares is right now really high up (oh no pun intended on that) and I have started to really love Castor.

ok sorry I can't help it... yeah Antares is getting big =P Anywho! My mother read it and was like 'I want a granddaughter named that' and I smirked and said 'you might have one one day' because I loved it for a girl. I actually have this right next to Vega but that might not be fair? seeing as Vega is the third and Antares the 15th (or 16th, depending on visibility... and yes it is sad I know this by heart)

That theme is really obvious to me, but I don't know that it would be to everyone. I'm not a big fan of any of those names either, sorry. Castor is my favorite of them but it seems weird without pairing it with Pollux (sp? No books anywhere near me to check my spelling real quick lol). My fave name that would fit your theme is Orion.

No need to be sorry! I realize some of them are not to everyone's taste, and I have long realized my kids are going to hate me for their names anyway xD. My list is actually over 2 pages long of names and Orion is on there too =) Pollux is a bit of a stretch for me and I went for Castor instead... I also have Gemini on there but that's be weird if I have a Castor already.

Yeah I know who that is... that's the problem, because Apollo is such a recognizable god and I didn't realize that the other two are also gods and a star.

I don't really like Luna, it's too Harry Potter/Weird girl for me. Antares is great! Although if you want to go with scorpio names I like Shaula better, plus it doesn't have the war meaning... unless you like that.

Castor I love.

Apollo I love too. Most people will get this one if they remember any history class.

Other star names I like also: Lyra for a girl, and Albireo for a boy.

lol thank you and yes, I know that it can be associated as a Harry Potter name but to me it's a family name sooo I don't ind too much.

I have Lyra on my list, Albireo sounds so beautiful in English but not in Spanish (my mother tongue) so I might save it just cause but as the 'guilty pleasures list.'

Oh and I realized Apollo goes with Apollo 13 too... me being the Greek mythology little expert totally forgot and just went with the God xD

From the Luna and the Apollo, I got it. I've never heard of Castor or Antares, so if it had just been those two, I wouldn't know.

Antares is a huge red giant that dwarfs the sun in size and the 15th (or 16th, depending on visibility) brightest star in the nighttime sky.

Castor is a star in the constellation of Gemini.

I'd pick up on the theme. And for some reason, I'd also assume Antares was a boy. ^^; That said, not bad. I love Luna and Castor, and only like the other two.
