Today at Six Flags I was talking to a mother who was in line with her three year old daughter, and three month old son for her daughter to go on one of the kiddie coasters. I fell in love with both children's names:

Micaiah (girl) pronounced Mih-KAY-uh
Corlan (boy) pronounced Core-lin

Any opinions?

Micaiah is indistinguishable from the herd of Kayla, Kaylyn, McKayla, Kaylee, McKenzah etc. names.

Corlan sounds like a real name at least.

I like Corlan a lot. Micaiah is a great Hebrew name FOR A BOY! Micaiah was a MALE prophet who reproved King Ahab. To me, Hebrew names are very specifically male and female, not interchangeable. It seems kind of ignorant to me to name your child a name with such spiritual significance without thinking about the etymology.

But that's just me. I'm sure she'll get a lot of flack for it later.

I am thinking the same thing... It's a really cool name, but I'd prefer to see it on a boy. Otherwise it sounds like Michaela with the L taken out.

It isn't my style at all, but Corlan is kind of nice. A nice change from Corbin.

The girls name just sounds like she took the L out of Makayla. I guess she gave the L to the brother and turned Corin into a boys name.

I knew a Korlin who was a girl that pronounced it that way, so I'd really not be able to see that on a boy.

As for Micaiah, it just sounds too much like someone who can't say Michaela, sorry.
