LauraBeth is sort of a family thing, it's what my sister calls me (my name is Laura Elizabeth). But I would also want it to stand on its own as just a good name, you know?

I like the combination though, Laura and Beth are two of my favorite names.

Callista - I don't like this
Mara - I like Maura much more
LauraBeth - like, as explained above
Alice - Like it a lot. For a while it was my top name
Lily - Like it. There's a theme with using L names for girls in my family, and for a long time Lily was my top choice - my liking is starting to fade a little though. Laura was my brothers top choice, so I ruled it out.

Seth - Don't like
Gabriel - Like, but only with the nickname Gabe
Adrian - don't like
Joseph (probably as a mn) - like it alright, kind of boring to me.

Yeah, Joseph is a little boring, which is why I was thinking middle name. It has personal meaning to me, though, so I would like to use it in some capacity.

Weirdly, I love Gabriel but really despise Gabe!

Oh, about the two Laura Beths thing, plenty of people are named after a parent and seem to manage. Looks like there's going to be a second Laura Beth whether I like it or not, since my sister says she's going to use it unless I beat her to it!

I think I'd like LauraBeth a lot if you put a space in it... Laura Beth. Or even a hyphen; Laura-Beth.

I could deal with having a space or a hyphen in LauraBeth. I'll have to think about that one.

I know not many will be fans of LauraBeth, but I kinda like it! I've always been a fan of certain names joined with Beth (Coribeth was one I saw). The only thing I'd do differently is leave the B as undercase.

What is LauraBeth? It sounds really bogan. Name the kid Laura Elisabeth and then she has a choice to be LauraBeth or not.

Actually, my name is Laura Elizabeth and my big sister's nickname for me is LauraBeth, so that's why I like that one. :)

I see what you're saying but I don't really buy it when people say "let the child choose whether to go by this or that" because the child doesn't choose. You're going to call them *something* for years before they even learn to talk properly, and then, what, you're going to let the three-year-old decide what her new name is? Introduce herself as Rainbow Pony Doll? No. The parents name the child. And you'll notice that even people who hate their names seldom actually change them, because it would be like changing their identity. For good or ill, what you call them on the day they're born is almost certain to be what they go by the rest of their life, so if you want them to go by LauraBeth you need to call them LauraBeth, not expect them to choose it later.

Maybe you meant giving her the option of a more formal name to fall back on as an adult? You may have a point there, which is why I'm considering following someone's suggestion of putting a space in there, Laura Beth, first name Laura middle name Beth, and as she gets older she can choose to be called just Laura outside the family if she wants to.

I really like Maa, but I think Callista is a little much. I like Lily because it's a family name, but I think it's becoming kind of common.

For boys, I really love Luke and Adrian.

I like Lily and am undecided about Alice- sometimes I like the name, but usually I don't. LauraBeth looks weird to me; I think Laura Beth or Laura-Beth would be better.

For the boys, I like Adrian and...kind of like Gabriel. I used to like Seth, but am now indifferent; I used to /hate/ Luke, but...I think it's growing on me. =)

Callista = in italian, it's the woman who does your calluses, so no for me.
Mara = my aunt's name! I don't love it, but I can see the charm

That seems to be the consensus on Laura Beth, so I think I will separate it if I do ever use it.

I associate the Josef spelling solely with a vampire on the TV show Moonlight. The best character on the show, but I'm still not naming my baby after him. :)
