I had a cat named Augustus nn Gus (He had a brother named Maximillian nn Max)so I would never use it for a kid but I kind of Like August without either of the nn options
I like all of them, but I like Augustin the best. It's very handsome and royal sounding. Augustus is too, but it's a little more doofy. August is too earthy for me. Auggie is way too much of a dog's name, but Gus is a cute nn.
I have a friend named Augustin, but it totally doesn't fit him and he goes by his middle name (Paul), which does. I'm not a huge fan of the name, but I do like the author Augusten Burroughs so it's going on me ;)
Augustus seems so...Roman. I like August the best.
I'd suggest Augustine rather than Auginstin. Is this for a boy or a girl?
The boy's name Augustus \a(u)-gus-tus, aug(u)-stus\ is of Latin origin, and its meaning is "great, magnificient". Given historical glamour by Roman emperors and German princely families, who brought it to Britain in the 18th century, when it became very fashionable.
The boy's name August \a(u)-gu-st\ is pronounced AW-gust. It is of Latin origin, and its meaning is "great, magnificient". The feminine version, Augusta, and the longer Latin version, Ausgustus, are more widely used in English-speaking countries.
The girl's name Augustine \a(u)-gusti-ne, aug(us)-tine\, also used as boy's name Augustine, is a variant of Augusta (Latin), and the meaning of Augustine is "great, magnificent". See also Austine.

Auginstin, I'm not sure of that one, but I like Augustin.
And the nn Gus is SO CUTE! It reminds me of that chunky little mouse from Cinderella (Gusgus!)
