I have my names chosen for my child.

For a boy, Israel Jamseson West
For a girl, Cordelia Jean West

My mother thinks Cordelia is very old fashioned, which I agree but I love the name, period. I will call her Delia, Lia, or Codi.

Im looking for nicknames for Israel, Im thinking Rayray, or Ike, any other nicknames for Israel that you can think of?

There's nothing wrong with an old-fashioned name! It's LASTED, and it can be a classic; it usually means it's not trendy enough to have 50 other kids in the same class with that name.

I love Israel. I would totally use it for my son. Cordelia isn't my taste.

Maybe Issy for Israel?

Is his middle name Jam-ses-on or Jam-es-on? I am not sure how to pronounce it.

The only nn for Israel I can think of is Ray. But I don't like nicknames that much to begin with. I mean, if you want him to be called Ray why not name him Ray instead of Israel?

I love the name Cordelia, but I think that's partially related to Anne of Green Gables. For a nickname I'd probably go with Delia, but I guess you could also Cor or Cory or Cordy.

I like Israel too. Maybe Iz for a nickname?

Isre (IS-ree)
Isra (IS-rah)
Rae or Ray
Rael

Of course by the time he's a preteen he picks his own name anyway!

I like Cordelia. Super cute nicknames too.

Izzy for Israel is the one that comes most natural to me.

All the Israels I know are Izzys or Issys, or sometimes just Iz. Iz is a really hip nickname. I do like Rael (ray-uhl), and I'm ok with Ray, but I don't like Ike mostly because I think of it as a nickname for Isaac, not Israel.

Oh, and a family friend has an Israel, whom she calls Jacob when he is misbehaving...sort of a biblical pun I suppose. ;)

I love the name Cordelia, I think it's very pretty. Personally, I like the nickname Cordy for the name Cordelia, but I like all of the ones you listed as well, Codi being my favorite of those.

I love love love Cordelia Jean.

I'd just call him Isreal. Why mess with perfection?

Not a fan of the boy's name, but the girl's name is pretty. I like Cordelia because it reminds me of Anne of Green Gables.

As for a nn for Israel, I'd pick Ira or Izzy.

My friend has a son called Isaiah and they call him Izzy. It can work for a boy and I think it's a perfectly acceptable nickname for Israel.

I love Cordelia but I like the nn Cordy.

Cordelia is very pretty. :)

I think Ira or Ray work best for Israel.
