What is a normal name you just can't understand why anyone would want to name their child? Not something like Audio Science or Pilot Inspektor, just a regular name.
For example: It's a tie for me between Kelsey and Jennifer. (Sorry if one of those is your name! No offense meant, I bet you're awesome!) Neither of them sound pretty or feminine to me and something about them seem...empty, or shallow, or something. Weird!

* Everyone I know who's used it lives in the USA. But that doesn't make it any better. It wouldn't be ok for me to call my child Hoboken, for instance, just because I don't live near it. And where are all the Tufnell Parks and Highgates to accompany the Chelseas and Camdens, eh? ;-)

Any "filler" middle name. There are so many beautiful, meaningful names out there, I can't imagine wasting one for a filler instead.

Date: 2006-06-19 08:02 pm (UTC)Old man names for boys. Charles, Henry, George, etc. They don't sound distinguished or classic to me. They just sound old.
Anything that was popular for babies in the 80s. I'm always surprised when I come across a list with Jennifer, Heather, Kimberly, Lindsay, etc, on it.

Date: 2006-06-19 10:05 pm (UTC)I am not crazy about Henry either, or Harry. I know a Henry who is so adorable, and I know some Harry's too.
I work in a daycare, so I see all kinds of names.

Date: 2006-06-19 09:16 pm (UTC)when i picked my son's name,it was to name sake my grandfather, and because issak means 'he who laughs,' my son completely fits his name, and it had meaning.
i don't know, i just think that children should be named for a reason, more then just because the parents think the name sounds good.

Date: 2006-06-19 09:57 pm (UTC)Olivia (I appreciate it as a lovely name, but it sounds gross to me because the "liv" part reminds me of "liver")
Lyn when used as a middle name, ergh. Although it's ok as a first name.
For boys, I don't like any name that has a "y" sound, which includes most of them. e.g. William (I pronounce it like will-Yum) Matthew, Daniel, etc. Like others have said, I don't mind these names when someone has them, I don't think about whehter i like it or not. But when I repeat the name over and over and think about using it I don't like it.
Paige is the only one I really hate.
