What do you think of the name Kate?

What sort of person do you associate with this name?

I like it for a nickname. It's short and simple and classic. I'd imagine a Kate to be intelligent and sophisticated.

Alright for a nickname. I always picture a Kate being playful/friendly, but probably not very serious/professional (this is where the regular name would likely come in).

Haha, ah, I see; I'm not a big fan of any of those names either, so I get where you're coming from. ;)

I agree. I love Kate but nothing else that is associated with it.

What about a variant like Caitlin/Kaitlin?

What about something like Katrina or Katerina?

It's my middle name so I'm biased lol but I really like it, it's strange because I really don't like the names Katherine and Katie but I love Kate.

I only like Cate.

I see a Kate as a nice, but plain girl.

I'm a Kate! Katherine is my full name but I almost never go by that...just use it when filling out forms and stuff.

What about Katrina? Katerina?

I think the name Kate is strong enough to stand on it's own. My mom intended to name me just "Kate" but the Catholic church wouldn't baptize me with that name...they said I had to have something "formal" so she chose Katherine.

I like it I always think of Katharine Hepburn
a no-nonsense type of person

I like it. I'm also not fond of Kath_ names, though I'm ok with Caitlin or Katerina which I believe are variants of Katherine. I also think Kate is a perfectly good name on its own!

I like it.
I associate it with a friendly, confident person.

A confident bitchy woman with eight kids and a TLC show. I wouldn't like the name anyway, it's not my style, I almost always prefer C over K, and I just don't like it, but right now, my mind automatically goes to Kate Gosselin. They're everywhere now.

Lol, I thought of her, too. (-_-)

Someone British, poised, traditional and bit of a prude (but with a darker side)-
I guess I'm a little biased by the figures of Katie Holmes (and the characters she's played), Kate Winslet, Kate Moss and Kate Middleton

Cait is my boyfriend's sister. I like it like that, but I don't much like the spelling Kate.

Kate is a very plain, neutral name. It's very adaptable and it sounds fun, yet not insane. It would be cute as a child and practical as an adult.

Im Cait. Im spunky, charming, eccentric, and forgetful :)

I like it (as a nickname for Katherine or Kathleen or Caitlin and so on). I think it's a blank slate, I don't really picture any particular kind of person when I hear it.

And I love your icon.

My dad calls me that, so I love it. :)

But to answer your question, I think of a girl who is feminine, but not overly girly or princess-y, and who is generally a nice person. The girl next door.

I know so many Kates.. my association changes depending on the context. I know 3 really loud obnoxious Kates.. er, 4, though one sometimes goes by Katie. And then I know of another 2 or 3 that are the complete opposite.. quiet, respectful, calm people. For most, that's a nickname.

Kate as a nickname bothers me unless it's short for Kaitlin/Katelyn/whatever kate-lyn spelling that starts with a K. I'm very nickname picky. I like the name on its own and am a firm believer in naming a child a "nickname" if that's what you only intend to call him/her.. especially Kate, because it's not cutesy or childish sounding at all. However, I think longer versions of the name usually sound better for middle names, or even just reading the first and last together.

Kate Gosselin.

It's one of my favourite names but it's also my best friend's name so I don't want to use it if I have a daughter, as it will sound like I named her after my friend and it might get confusing. Otherwise I would use it.

I totally like it on its own too. I don't mind Katie for a very young girl but I just really like Kate. It's not nicknamey in my opinion.

I see it as such a fresh crisp sounding name. Kate would be strong, independent, tall and intelligent.

I love the name Kate, it has a very classic appeal. I associate this name with the Victorian era.
