I was looking through some bargain books at the store today and found the name Allia. I think it was an illustrators name,.. Anyway, I assume its a girl name, and I figured it's pronounced Uh-lee-uh.

What do you think of it?

it's possibly made up, but it reminds me of the latin word "allium" meaning "garlic", or the latin adjective "alius, alia, aliud", meaning "other"

There's a character in Dune called Alia (it's pronounced ALL-ee-uh). I've always liked the sound of it. :o)

I would pronounce it ah-lee-ah. I like it, but not enough to use it. Maybe as a nn?

Reminds me of Alia, like Alia Shawkat. (Actress from Arrested Development and the show State of Grace which I used to love.)

I like the spellings Aliyah and Aaliyah better -- I'm assuming it's a variant of those. Both are similar sounding but have different roots.

From think baby names

The girl's name Allia \a(l)-lia\ is a variant of Aliyah (Hebrew), and the meaning of Allia is "rising, ascending".

The baby name Allia sounds like Alaia, Allie, Alli, Alla, Alliah, Alia, Ellia and Illia. Other similar baby names are Allina, Albia, Allis, Allida, Allda, Allisa, Allma and Allta.

I don't dislike it, I feel somewhat neutral about it.

I pronounced it ALL-ee-uh.
If it is pronounced Uh-lee-uh, I prefer Aaliyah.
