What's the proper spelling for this name in English? Jasmin or Jasmine?
And is there always a difference in pronounciation?
I would pronounce Jasmin as JAZ-min and Jasmine as Jaz-MEEN, but is it steady like this or have you ever found for example Jasmine pronounced JAZ-min?
It's a tad confusing to me lol

I've always only seen Jasmine pronounced as JAZ-min, and I would pronounced Jasmin the same way.

it depends, honestly. I've met a Jasmine and a Jasmin.
Jasmine was pronounced JAZ-min, and Jasmin was pronounced yaz-MEEN (with a y-sound instead of a J-sound, if that makes sense).

I know one in real life and I'm thinking Aladdin. Both were Jasmine and both are Jaz-min.

I've seen both, although probably more Jasmines. I'd pronounce both as JAZ-min unless told otherwise, but I'd pronounce Yasmin/Yasmine as Yas-MEEN.

From Behind The Name

JASMINE
Gender: Feminine
Usage: English
Pronounced: JAZ-min [key]
From the English word for the climbing plant with fragrant flowers which is used for making perfumes. It is derived from Persian yasmin (which is also a Persian name).

That's always been the proper way to spell it in english in my mind.

I'd pronounce them the same way - Jaz-min. I know both Jasmines and Jasmins (and a Jasmyn) but Jasmine is the 'proper' spelling.

Jasmine is the conventional spelling. My roommate's name is Jasmine and she pronounces it JAZ-min.

i see jasmine as being the "right" spelling of jaz-min... however, if the name is yaz-meen/min, i'd spell it jasmin. idk why.

The proper spelling of Jasmine, like the flower, is Jasmine. Jasmin and Jazmin are acceptable name variants, but I much prefer Jasmine. I would pronounce all of these names the same, Jaz-min, but could see where someone might want to pronounce Jasmine as Jaz-meen. I wouldn't do that though and she'd likely be correcting people a lot. It's also not grammatically correct in English to pronounce this name as Jaz-meen. As an educator, to my recollection, the only Jazmeens I've come across were actually spelled this way. Most of the Jasmines I've come across spell it Jazzmin, Jazmin, Jazmine, or Jasmin. I do not like unnecessary z's or dropping of e's and think Jasmine is classier.

There is the name Yasmine, which to me is often a hispanic name and so yes I would pronounce it Yaz-meen.

Ah, yes it is. Names can be hard when you speak multiple languages. :)

I know several Jasmines, a Jasmin and a Jazmyne. I can't stand the spelling of that little girl's name -- she's 12 and my fiance's younger sister, and I love her to pieces but I always wondered why her grandmother opted to spell her name Jazmyne. Why?

Anyway, I prefer Jasmine, and I pronounce them all the same (JAZ-min).

I've never known anyone to prn it jaz-MEEN. I've known three Jasmines (four if you count the cartoon princess :P) and they've all pronounced it JAZ-min.
