India

Okay, I woke up this morning and decided I love the name India. Love it, would absolutely use it, the only thing I'm worried about is the fact that I live, and will probably raise my daughter in Indiana.

Would that be totally dorky and asking for teasing to name my daughter India?

Aside from that, what do you think of the name, in general?

I love that it means "river" as that is possibly my favorite meaning for a name! I also think it sounds pretty and I love indian culture, so I'm biased lol

Agreed-
I love the name in theory, but I wouldn't use it.

I usually hate place names, but this is the one exception. I just love everything about how it sounds. I could never use it, though. It doesn't go with my last name at all.

I don't think it would be dorky or asking for teasing. I've known people named India and they never got teased, and I am sure there are people in Indiana named India who don't get teased. Really, I think people are really rarely teased about their names and people really overthink that. I think it'd be find.

I think it sounds cool but it's not realistic. I agree with [livejournal.com profile] feverously that is screams trying too hard.

Plus, I do think it's a bit weird considering you live in Indiana.

I like India, but it's a little too out there for my taste.

I think that if you love that name, then you should use that name.

I like the name India, but also because I love the nickname Indie.

I love the name Sydney but I live in Sydney, so I won't be using it.

I really like the way it looks and sounds, but with place names, I always wonder what people from said place think. :/

I love it, I actually think it's pretty old.

I don't like it (seems too hipstery) but it grew on me a bit when I worked with a little girl named Indya. I think I like it better when it's not spelled like the country.

I love it right now. I would love to use it one day, but I have no connection to India (except thinking it's a pretty cool country) and I worry about how it would sound on any future daughters, who would likely be lily-white.

I like the name, and I don't think it matters that you live in Indiana. I live in South Carolina, but that never enters my mind when I meet someone named Caroline, Carolyn, etc. The two pieces of information just have no connection to each other. I think India would be fine.
